I awoke to the feeling of a car jolting forward and someone smoothing down my hair I fluttered open and I lifted up seeing we were on our way to the aiport. "What time is it," I rubbed my eyelids and looked at my brother. " Eleven-thirty." My mom answered and glanced in the rear view mirror to give me a smile. When we arrived at the airport it was fifteen minutes until we leave, fifteen minutes until my fate is sealed and I begin the worse summer ever. Mom hugs us both and I start to tear up, why would he be so cruel as to take me away why now? I hugged her tightly as she begged us to promise to call her when we landed and not a moment after. Settling into our seats on the plane I plugged my headphones in and drifted back to sleep. "Gracie," I heard my name being called and my shoulders were being shook. I mumbled and batted my eyelashes looking up at my brother as he grabbed my arms and hauled me to my feet. "Let's find dad." I followed Blake my head down and being shoved left and right by strangers hurrying along with their daily lives. Blake must have sense my uneasiness because he led us into a small airport cafe to wait. I sent mom a quick text just to ease her panic, telling her we were safe and I would call her when we got to dads. Blake took my small hand in his and tugged me to a nearby table to wait. I looked up just in time to see an older version of my father than what I had remembered. "Kids," he smiled, that is so fake he didn't even care why are we here, Blake gave my hand a small squueze. "Well come one Shelly is waiting for us in the car," how could I forget he left us for another woman. My brother rolled his eyes behind dad's back and managed with all of his suitcases and two of mine. He treated my like glass and for once I didn't mid it. The California heat was scorching and I could already feel like sweat rolling down my back. When my dad stopped infront of a white Range Rover I gladly climbed in the back thankful for the invention of air in cars. Normally I was fine around dad even if I hadn't seen him in several years, however, something I did not do good with was strangers. I knew dad had gotten remarried but never before had I ever met her. Even if we were inside an airconditioned car my brunette hair was still matted with sweat and stuck to my uncovered shoulder blades. I glanced at my brother to be met with piercing ice blue eyes similar to my own. I should look at the bright side, at least California's insanely hot weather would be good to help me tan. "I'm so very happy to meet you both," She rambled and I took the moment to size her up, she had to be in her early thirties while my dad was pushing fifty. Her skin looked like she had laid too long in the sun, her hair was newly bleached blond. I wondered what possessed my father to leave a diamond for a rock. My father turned down a long gravel driveway and I took note in the stone gates, was my father in the mifia? We then pulled up to something only in the movies, a brick house two story house with a wrap around porch.
"Second floor third door on your right is yours Blake, across from you is Grace." We climbed the spiral staircase similar to what we had at home and Blake walked me to my room. " Alright princess, hop in the shower we're going out to dinner with dad and his friend and then I'll bring your things up." I nodded and walked into the bathroom connected to my room, I began to pull my shirt up and the girl looking back at me was one I did not recognize. It's only been a year and I've fallen down so far from the happy girl I was with Peter, before he took away my light. The scars on my stomach were so faint I could hardly see them my legs were a different story. I peeled off my shirt and pants before staring at myself with disgust then taking off my undergarments I turned the shower to steaming hot and jumped in. After washing my brunette hair and shaving my legs and underarms I rinsed my body clean of body wash and stepped out. Wrapping my small frame in a fluffy towel I stepped back in front of the mirror braiding my wet hair to the right. Blake had already brought of my things and I rummaged through them before chosing a pair of peach shorts with a black jewled top. I rubbed my scar cover over my inner tighs concealing my scars before slipping on my shorts and top. I went back into the bathroom carrying my bag of makeup and stood in front of the mirror once again. I applied my foundation and eyelinear with masacra before walking back out and slipping on sandals. I nagivated my way to Blake's room not bothering to knock and sat down on his bed waiting for him to finish his shower.
