The sun shined through the window. It was enough to wake Luke up. He checked the clock and it was ten o'clock. He found enough strength to stand up, and go to his room. Emily laid there sleeping on his bed. Then, Luke felt a tap on his back. He turned around and it was Hephaestus.
"Shh" Luke whispered to him. "She's sleeping"
"I can see that. But I want you to come with me."
The two left the room, and were in the backyard once again.
"So... What do you need with me?" Luke asked.
"I'm giving you a very powerful gift. One that requires a lot of skill."
"Okay... What is it?"
"A Pheonix"
"Wait, you're giving me a Pheonix?!"
"Yeah, why?"
"That thing is thousands of years old. And you trust me with it?"
"Of course. You are my son, you've grown up, and you are about to partake in a difficult quest. "
Luke looked confused, honored, and happy all at the same time.
"So how do I control it? Or summon it?" He asked.
Hephaestus held out his right arm. A crimson egg appeared in his palm. Then, what he did next was weird. He chucked the egg straight at Luke, and the egg shattered when it made contact. But instead of egg yolk all over his clothes, there was a red mist. It swirled around his body for a bit, then faded into his clothing.
"Wh-whoa." Luke let out.
"Summoning the Pheonix is exactly like summoning fire. You just need to channel the Phoenix's energy to create it."
So, Luke thought about a Pheonix. A red bird made of fire just soaring through the sky, how majestic. He waved his hand around, and it started to form. After a few seconds, the Pheonix was fully formed. It's body was completely red, and it's back feathers were made of fire. It had glaring gold eyes, and a short pointed beak. Luke put his hand on the birds head, and pet it.
"It's up to you to control it and use it's power wisely. You can call it whenever you want, and if it dies it'll come back to life."
Luke waved his hand, and the Pheonix dissipated.
"Remember Luke, you are my son. Which means fire isn't your only power. Good luck!"
Luke was about to ask him a question, but Hephaestus vanished in a small plume of fire. He was happy that he got to see his father, and that they got along well. Luke decided to go inside, and check on Emily.
Inside his room, Emily was awake. She had changed out of her old clothes, and put on red gym shorts and a black shirt. Her daggers still attached to her calves.
"Mind if I borrow your clothes?" She asked.
"Um... Not at all. Now let's go get some breakfast."
--------------------------
The two of them sat inside of a Dunkin Donuts. Emily had an iced coffee and a glazed donut. While Luke just ate a boston cream donut.
"Anything new with your powers?" Luke asked to break the silence.
"Not really... Hope I don't turn into a wolf anytime soon."
"Me too. I just want to get back to the rest of the group. I wonder if they found the guardians yet. "
"Well, they did say they would be going to Epcot in the morning."
Just then, a boy about their age came into the store. Emily couldn't seem to get her eyes off of the boy. He had long brown hair and dark eyes. He wore a grey hoodie, khaki shorts, and black shoes. This kid looked eternally tired, or perpetually stoned. He walked up to the counter, and started to order something. He quickly received his donut, and sat at the other end of the room.
