Sand, water, trees, beach houses, and road is all I see for at least 2 boring miles. It is so different being here for a long dreaded reason instead of vacation.
"-maybe Aria(17) can also join you and Dad. Right Aria?" I hear mom say to my brother in between my one song ending and another starting. She looks at me through the rear view mirror.
I take out one of my headphones. "What?" I say as lame as possible, making sure she understands my dislike of the subject.
"I said maybe Dad, Elijah(10), and you can go to the pier a few nights. Maybe go on the rides and/or go into the stores. Have some bonding time, considering you haven't seen your father in three years." She says as my little brother, Elijah, beams in excitement. Obviously we have different feeling about this summer.
"Whatever," I say putting my earphone back in. "I wish it was never again." I whisper to myself.
"Aria!" Mom scolds giving my a angered expression.
"What!?"
"Can you just stop, Aria, he made a mistake." Elijah exclaimed, he lips going from a huge smile to a pout as he crosses his arms.
"Shut the hell up Elijah! He didn't make a mistake! A mistake is a accident, not on purpose. He knew what he was doing. He knew that he left us at a horrible time. He knew that Avery-" I start get cut on my mother.
"Aria enough, got it! Now say sorry to your brother, now!" She says turning he car on to Shellmore Court. Getting closer to his house.
Sighing, I mumble "Sorry idiot."
Mom glares at me as I ignore her looking out the window, seeing the same things as before.
Sadly in about 30 seconds the car slowly stops. Elijah quickly perks with excitement, wanting to run up to the beach house that lies at the end of Shellmore Court. 1648 Shellmore Court, Eastwood Florida, 21346.(A/N: The address is totally made up)
I hate that I just rode ten and a half hours with my annoying little brother and mother in the front seat, to arrive here.
"Here!"
"Wow I'm so excited." I respond to my mother with sarcasm dripping out of my mouth.
Elliot was out of the car before it fully stoped. I on the other hand wanted to climb in the trunk of the car and drive back home with mom to North Carolina.
"Aria, please at least try to bond a little bit. Maybe even start to play and sing again. You have a whole summer, so just please do that at least, bond a bit please. Okay?" Mom pleads. I just give her a glance and look back at the beach house.
Mom gets out of the car leaving me as the last person on the car. It's now or never, I guess.
Slowly I emerge from the car with my head held high. I look at the porch of the beach house, only to see my brother in my dad's arms.
When he releases my brother he takes my mother in a small hug, then he sees me. I stare into those eyes I haven't seen in, what seems like forever. Even that doesn't feel like long enough.
I turn my body and walk to the back of the car where my suitcase is being held. I open the trunk taking out my suitcase.
Trying my best to procrastinate going up to him, I start to slowly take out the rest of Elijah and I's stuff. Sadly my procrastination was rudely interrupted by my mother.
