Three - Nando's

We arrive the nearest Nando's, which was on downtown, in what seems like a couple minutes. But, we all know the drive was thirty minutes away.

What can I say? Time flies when you're having fun.

We get out of the car, and we meet up with the rest of the males from tryouts.

As we each took turns ordering our meals, I whipped my phone out to text my mum quickly. She might be worried sick since I said I would be home around 7, but it's already 8:30.

Me: Hey, mum! I made the team, and I'm celebrating with the new recruits/teammates at Nando's. I'm so sorry I didn't text you sooner, but I will text you when it's over.

As soon as I clicked the 'sent' button, the small grey writing says she has already read it, and is now responding.

Mum: Congratulations, honey! I knew you could do it! But, I was concerned a little bit that you didn't show up at home; I thought something happened to you. Make sure you call or text me the next time something like this happens. Anyways, have fun with your friends! 💕
P.S. - Good boy, you didn't text while driving.

I smile at her response. I'm thankful she isn't mad about me not texting so that I don't have to dread going home.

Me: Thank you so much! I'll let you know when I'll get home soon. Love you! <3

I clicked the 'sent' button one last time before finally turning my phone off and shoving it in my pocket.

"Ready to order, sir?" The cashier asks me. I smile, nod, and I ordered my usual. I pay for my own meal, and she gave me a buzzer goes off when my meal is ready to pick up.

I go over to the big table that the guys set up, and I chose a seat in between Simon and Jide. As I sat down, I'm greeted by both males, to which I respond back with a classy 'hey'.

All the guys, including me, started to talk and banter about our own lives and school. I ended up getting all the guy's social media so I could contact them, including their numbers.

My buzzer went off, along with Simon's, and we both walk to get our food together. We were the last people to get our food, since we are the the last ones out of the group to order.

We return to the table and we all start eating. I was probably one of the neatest eaters there, along with Josh and Simon, which I hound humorous. Even when we were eating, we all still continue to talk.

"Guys! I need a group photo!" Jide raises his voice above the other guy's chatter.

We all nod in agreement as Jide gets a random woman to take our photo. She happily agrees and he shows her how to work the camera on his phone.

We all contemplated what position we should do, and we agreed to take a photo where the three people who were on my side of the table are sitting and the other four stand behind us.

Simon wraps his arm around my shoulder, and I do the same as him, and I did that to Jide, which he then did back.

We all smiled as the nice woman takes our picture. "I'll create a group chat just for us and send it there for anyone who wants it." Jide announces before sitting down. After that, we returned to our conversations.

I talked to Simon for a little bit about video games (specifically FIFA) and football teams. He likes Leeds and I like Chelsea, and we both know that between Messi and Ronaldo, Ronaldo is the best.

I also talked to Josh, who sat across from me, about, you guessed it, video games. He likes to play a bunch of CoD, GTA, and indie horror games, which is pretty cool. I do play some of the games he mentioned, but he made the ones I didn't know about seem like they are worth giving a go, so I'll keep that in mind.

Jide and I both told jokes to each other, and I told him the best ones I knew, and we both were in giggle fits for the rest of the time.

It was around 11 when we were all contemplating to go home or stay, but since we had school tomorrow, we decided it would be in our best interest to go home.

I said goodbye to the guys, and the Cals, Simon, and I walk back to our car.

"Want me to drive?" Simon offers, noticing my yawn. "You look tired."

"Are you sure? I don't want you to feel obligated-"

"I can do it for you. I drank way to much Red Bull, so I'm full of energy." He says and I let out a small giggle.

"Alrighty, thank you so much." I say, a little bit of sleepiness lacing my voice.

"Anytime." He grins as I hand him my car keys.

I get into the passenger side, the Cals crawl into the back, giggling at some joke I didn't even hear, and Simon got into the driver's seat.

We pull out of the lot, and took off towards school, and surprisingly, we talk and banter the whole way there.

As we pull into the parking lot and get out of the car, Simon and I say goodbye to the Cals, giving them both bro-hugs, and they ran off together, leaving Simon and I alone.

"Thank you for driving back, that was a sweet offer." I say breaking the somewhat comfortable silence between us.

"Yeah, of course! Anytime." He says and gives me my car keys and a toothy grin.

I smile back at him and pull him into a hug.

By the way his body tenses up at the sudden touch, I knew this was unexpected for him, but he loosened up into the hug, wrapping his arms around me.

"Goodnight, Harry." He says as he pulls away, with his wonderfully classic smile.

"Goodnight, Simon." I respond back

I smile to myself like an idiot, and I enter my car. Before I start driving, I texted my mother saying I'd be back in fifteen minutes.

I pull out of the parking lot, and drive home, with a wonderful silence that leaves me to my thoughts.

I get home as predicted, and as I entered my house, I'm greeted by a bone-crushing hug from Rosie. "Harry! I heard you made the team!" She chirps happily. "I'm so happy for you!"

"Thank you, Rosie." I say, returning her hug. She pulls away from me, smiling, and runs toward the kitchen.

I follow Rosie into the kitchen and I'm greeted with another bone-crushing hug from my mum and dad.

Both of my parents gave me praise about how proud they were of me that I made the team and new friends. I smile with pride, and I tell them I'm going to get ready for bed.

I feel a little tug on my sleeve, "Can you tuck me in tonight?" Rosie shyly asks, and I smile even wider, if that's even possible.

"Of course I will. Goodnight mum and dad!" I take Rosie's cold hand and I start up the stairs.

"Goodnight, we love you!" My mum calls out to me.

"Love you too, guys!" I responded as Rosie and I reached the top of the stairs.

I follow Rosie into her room, where she gets into her bed, and I cover her in blankets. "Thank you, Harry." She says, sleepily.

"Of course. I love you so much." I say as I give her a kiss on the forehead.

She sits up abruptly and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "I love you too!" She says, and lays back down, her eyes threatening to close.

"Goodnight, Rosie. Sweet dreams." I say as I turn off her lights.

"Goodnight, Harry." She says and her eyes close, and I knew she must've been tired. 11pm is quite late for an eight year old.

I close the door quietly, walked back to my room to grab a fresh pair of boxers and some random sweatpants and t-shirt, and traveled over to my bathroom, where I took a shower and did my hygienic routine.

I wander into my room slowly, turned off the lights, plugged my phone in, and I crawled into bed.

As soon as my head hit the pillow, I smile like an idiot, just like I did in the parking lot after Simon and I said goodbye, and let my unconsciousness take me away.
