"First day of school is always the scariest," they say. "You'll find your place," they say. Well, I'm completely lost and I have yet to find my place.

The sad thing is that I'm a Junior, and I'm still terrified of going to school.

I walk into the main building where my first period is, and I can already feel myself going deaf. The hallways of the school are filled with all your typical high school stereotypes: The jocks, the cheerleaders, the nerds, the gamers, the geeks, the stoners, the band members, the artists, the musicians, and the loners.

I scurry off towards my first period class, which is AP Physics, and sat towards the front corner farthest away from the door. Each of the desks seat two people, so I hope that he arrives here soon.

The teacher isn't here yet, and nobody is in the classroom, so I decide to take out my iPhone and text my best friend, Vikk, who is the same grade as me and my best mate.

Me: Where are you? I'm lonely here :(

Vikk ✨: I'm just pulling into the school. Sorry I'm late.

Me: No! It's okay! Take your time.. (not being sarcastic) I'll see you soon.

Vikk ✨: See you in a few.

I grin as exit out of my messages. I put my phone away and I grab my sketchbook and continued my drawing of two swans in a lake creating a heart with their beaks.

Usually my drawings have some sort of meaning or correlation with my life. In the swan sketch, I'm one swan, bold and living, but the other swan is barely visible, meaning that nobody has that role in my life... yet. The meaning is that I am still searching for my other half.

I know, quite cheesy. I'll find them someday, but no rush. I'm 17 years old and I have a life to live.

I sketch for about a few minutes more, focusing on the background, which is a flowery meadow. I haven't even done much sketching before I hear the faint sound of running footsteps, and I let out a little grin, knowing who exactly who that is.

I look up just in time to see my lovely Indian friend run into the classroom, almost running into the desk in front of him. I let out a small laugh as he gives me a frown. "Glad to see you enjoy my mistakes in life." He says with sass.

"Thank you for caring about my happiness." I say back and he gives me a small grin.

"Oooh, whatcha drawing?" He asks and takes the seat next to me and puts his chin on his knuckles.

"U-Uh, nothing important. It's just a silly sketch." I stammer, hoping not to give away the true meaning behind it.

"Ah! It's swans, and they're in love! That's beautiful!" He exclaims and a smile involuntarily forms on my face.

"T-Thank you." I say, and I don't even have to look to know my cheeks are tinted pink.

As Vikk and I carry on with our conversation, the students start piling into the classroom, heading to their desired seats with their friends. The teacher even comes in, saying hello to a couple students while getting herself situated in her classroom.

Eventually, the bell rings and I cover my ears to protect my eardrums from the putrid sound. Everybody sits down and goes silent, knowing that this teacher is sweet, but can make your life miserable with homework if you misbehave.
