The cold rain was coming down fast on me as I tried rushing through the front doors of Parsippany High School. I missed orientation because I just arrived to Parsippany last night from Seattle, my mom had already sent over my transcripts and I was all set to go. Just one little problems, I don't know where anything is. I pulled out my winkled schedule from my bag, Gym room 310A with Mr. Dasty. I look down the hallway and suddenly, someone knocked into me and my bag fell of my shoulder and to the ground. I look up to see who knocked into me and I see memorizing green eyes.
"You're blocking the door." Said the stranger.
"Oh, I-" I stopped when he walked away.
"Don't worry about him." Said some boy who came up right away. "Hi, I'm Anthony."
"Aidan" He reached for my schedule that stilled was on the ground.
"What grade you in" Anthony asked
"Going into eleventh. How about you?" I asked him"Same. Just curious because of the schedule, I see you have gym, its your first left all the way down the hall. Damn, you got Dasty, good luck. He often has a sour mood." He looked me straight in the eyes.
"Thanks, maybe i'll see you around in some other classes?" I said
"Yeah looks like we have lunch and chemistry together. You can sit with my friends and I at lunch" He replied. "Gotta run, good luck on your first day." He started off down the hall.
I pulled my bag on my shoulder and held it very tightly to avoid another bumping into. I went to the first hallway on the left and walked all the way until I saw the words "Gym" catch my eyes. When I walked in, everyone was already changed and they all looked at me as I slowly crossed the floor to a short, grumpy looking man.
"Hi, are you Mr. Dasty?" I asked
"Yes, you must be Aidan. Knowing it's your first day, I'm assuming you did not bring any clothes to change to. You can sit today but I expect you to be prepared to change when we come back on Monday." Mr. Dasty said.
"Ok, thank you." I replied. I went to the risers and took a seat all the way at the top corner to avoid people as much as I can. I watched as the different classes all joined together to form many different teams of volleyball. I was looking around until a set of familiar eyes caught my attention. Those memorizing green eyes were staring at me. I broke the eye contact for a few seconds but then slowly turned back to see if he was still watching me. those green eyes were still on me. I got a chill down my spine. He broke the eye contact when a girl came over to talk to him. It looked like she was frustrated and the green-eyed boy was too. He stormed away to another court and continued playing. The girl started to stare at me now. I started to wonder why they would stare, is it because I'm new?
A few period had passed and the classes were pretty easy to find thanks to the numbers of the halls being painted on walls. Lunch finally came. I knew where the café was because I had passed it on the way to gym. I walked in and heard my name. I scanned the café to see where it was coming from.
"Aidan!" I heard Anthony yelling. I then saw him standing at a table in the middle of the café waving his arms in the air for me. I walked over to the table and he started to introduce me to the group.
He started with a tall, blonde boy who had his eyes fixed on the girl across the table. "This is Brian." I waved and said hi.
The next person was a short, curly- haired girl named Elena. She stood up and said " It is so great to have another girl in the group. My bestie, Veronica, just moved to Seattle so I was the only girl for about two weeks."
"No kidding, I just moved from Seattle." I responded. "I'm Aidan"
She let out a small laugh. "Small world." She peered around my shoulders, "Looks like Mr. Hotty over there is staring at you Aidan." I slowly turned my head and saw his eyes fixed on me again.
"He has been doing that all day. Throughout gym, I sat out and he was playing volleyball but stared at me the whole time until this girl came up and broke his stare."
"That was probably one of his sisters. Nobody really talks to him, except his family. He always keeps to himself." Spoke this boy I haven't been introduced to yet. "I'm Kenny."
"What's his name?" I asked.
"Damon." Kenny answered.
"Damon." I repeated. His eyes were still on mine.
The last two periods went by slow. Damon was in my head. I couldn't shake his eyes from mine. I take my time in walking to the parking lot to my car. I'm about half way there when I heard someone walking behind me. I assumed it was one from the group at lunch but when I turned, nobody was there. I continue walking and reach my car. I get in and throw my bag to the passenger side. I start the car to warm up on this chilly day and look into my rearview mirror. I see those green eyes staring at me from across the lot. This time I broke the contact and backed my car up and pulled away, I took a quick glance and he was no where to be found. I headed straight home hoping for my mom to not be home so I can avoid talking about my first day.
