You felt numb as the nurse dressed your wounds. To be perfectly honest you had forgotten all about them. You looked over at Hans who had several bandages on his chest. you were slightly surprised when he told you earlier that he had gotten that wound by taking a dagger that was meant for your sister.

"I'm sorry you had to go through all that." Hans said when the nurses finally left us alone.

You shrugged, "It was Duke that tortured me not you, but I guess I forgive you." you said.

Hans looked you over, "Was what Duke said true?" he asked making you look at him in confusion, "That you cared for that mermaid, or Elsa you said her name was?" he asked.

You sighed, "I don't just care about her." You said.

Hans got the message behind what you said and chuckled slightly, "A sailor falling for a mermaid... seems a little cliché if you ask me." he said.

You couldn't help my smile a little as you stood up, "Well sometimes a cliché is what people want. Now if you excuse me I have something to take care of." You said walking to the door. "Oh and one more thing." You said turning around, "Just because you saved my sister's life it doesn't mean you have my permission to court her. Call me picky, but I just want what's best for her and you still have yet to prove that." You said before leaving the door.

You found two familiar faces waiting for you outside the infirmary, "(Y/N)!" in seconds you were tackled by your little brother. "Are you okay?"

You grunted slightly, now you were feeling the pain of your bandaged wounds. You ignored the pain and did your best to hug your brother back, "Hey Olaf," you said pulling away from the hug. "I'm fine, well I'm patched up." You said when you saw him looking at the bandages, "Why don't we pay my ship a little visit? I think I have something there for you."

When you handed Olaf the snowman doll Elsa made for him his expression lit up, "Wow," he said grabbing the doll, "It's a little cold, but it's so soft." He said hugging it tightly. You smiled.

"Well I'm glad you like it, because it's a very special souvenir." You explained. Olaf nodded, but you weren't sure if he was really paying attention or not. You chuckled and walked out of the room.

You were leaning against the side of your boat looking towards the sea, you reached into your pocket and pulled out your flute. You looked at the instrument before back at the water. "Did the mermaid make that doll?" you heard your sister ask behind you. You nodded and raised the instrument to your lips before starting to play. After playing for a minute or two you stopped and looked at the ocean to see if anything would happen. "You're really are hoping she comes back huh?" you could tell Anna wasn't really asking a question. "Well maybe your flute playing will bring her back." She said in a cheerful voice and you heard her walk away.

You thought about it for a moment, "Not a bad idea Anna." You said quietly.

You started a routine, every day you would return to the beach where Elsa first left and you would play your flute for a few minutes. Then after waiting a little bit you would go home a little disappointed.

You had been doing this routine for a few weeks now, there was a bit of snowy weather every now and then, but you could handle it. You had been in far worse weather conditions. You had just finished playing your flute and you were waiting. After a few minutes you sighed, "I'm not giving up yet," you said as you began your walk home. You couldn't shake the feeling that you just knew she would one day return.

Days turned into weeks, those weeks turned into months, and those months became far longer. It was roughly a year and a half since she left. It was the middle of summer now, and a lot has happened since then.
