Robert acts like a cool kid (he smokes/drinks) but he's really not because he doesn't have the cool kid shoes. A quick hand means he can shoot a gun well.

This kid is a jealous kid. He's one of those kids that sits in the back of the classroom plotting deaths for each of his classmates. That kid. The one that everyone is afraid of.

This boy is jealous because he doesn't have pumped up kicks which is another term for popular shoes. he doesn't have the pair of shoes that everyone else does. So if he catches someone who has a pair he's gonna shoot that person with his gun.

He has waited a long time for a pair of shoes like these. His dad not only brought him home the shoes, but the kid who the shoes belong to. this kid better run before the one with the gun kills him for the shoes

Fun fact: In 1989 Reebok came out with pumped shoes that ha a heel in the back and that's why it's called "pumped up kicks"

There are literally so many different ways to interpret this song. Think of it how you want too but some people look too deep into these songs. I looked up what other people think and they think it's metaphorical and a lot of other bullshit. You can believe whatever you want to believe.
