"Jughead! Be nice!" The blonde exclaimed, and I just stared at them, I couldn't help myself.
"Why? She's in our booth, Betty." He said rolling his eyes looking down at her.
"I'm sorry he is so rude." The pretty girl said to me. "My name is Betty, this is Jughead. Do you mind if we join you?"
"Sure, why not?" I said awkwardly, putting my pen down and closing my diary.
"Betty, lets just go to the other side." Jughead said, but she pulled him into the booth next to her.
"No, Juggy, you're going to be nice, and friendly, and meet new people. " She told him, then looked at me. "He usually isn't this much of a jerk, it's really just a mask, Jug is genuinely a sweetheart." She said with a smile, and he had a small one of his own, but then his scowl came back.
"So, what's your name?" Betty asked me, her gentle eyes staring at me. She was making me nervous.
"Lexi, I just moved here." I said and Jughead groaned.
"Oh god." He said, putting his head on the table. "Another one."
"Oh stop, you love Ronnie." Betty said, rolling her eyes. "I truly am sorry about him."
"Why? Because he wanted to be here alone with you, not a girl he doesn't know?" I asked and she was shocked, and Jughead lifted his head looking equally as shocked. "I mean I get where he's coming from, but I don't even know you guys. I'm sorry if I crossed a line. "
"No line crossed, I'm glad you understand me, Lexi." Jughead laughed, and Betty looked at him funny. "So you write?"
I went to answer him, then my milkshake was place in front of me.
"Thank you." I smiled at the man, and he gave me a friendly nod and went back to the counter. My green shake was in a tall glass, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. I stuck my straw in and took a sip of what turned out to be heavenly. "Oh god, that's amazing."
"Mint chocolate chip is my favorite," Jughead told me, and then he stole the cherry off my shake. "But you never answered, do you write?"
"My cherry! I barely even know you, we have to be friends before I consider sharing my food!" I exclaimed, making him grin and Betty giggled.
"My name is Jughead Jones, I am a junior in high school, and my favorite shake is mint chocolate chip." He said, his charming smile still on his face. "Now we are friends."
"I don't doubt you two will become bestfriends." Betty said, with a small smile.
"Betts, you are my bestfriend." Jughead said, and she smiled, kissing him softly. I looked out the window, pushing back memories.
"Tomorrow, you can sit with us at lunch, Lexi. We will have you meet the rest of our friends and we will have you in the group A.S.A.P." Betty said, and I smiled awkwardly.
"Thank you, Betty." I gave her the biggest smile I could muster up, but the anxiety balling up in my chest made that hard. Head lights came past the window, momentarily blinding me.
"That's my mom. I should get going." Betty said, kissing Jughead fully on the lips, I looked down at my shake and took an awkward sip. "Do you want a ride home Juggy?"
"No, I'm alright. I love you." He told her, looking up at her lovingly.
"I love you too. It was nice meeting you, Lex, see you tomorrow." She waved and made her way out of the diner.
