Dick:

I looked at Batman, then to Batgirl. "Lets take out the Joker once and for all." We grabbed our things and put on our masks. Barbera got on her bike while Bruce and I got in our cars.

We met up at the place in which Joker became, well, Joker. We went in from different angles. I spotted Joker to my right and tackled him. Then I saw green stuff, the chemicals. I struggled to breathe as Batman and Batgirl came to finish the job.

Batgirl drove him away from me. I found it in my to sit up, I focused on breathing. Then I watched Joker toss Barbera to the side. She rolled and slipped, she was about to fall into the same thing joker had.

Not while I was breathing, I ran over and grabbed her hand. I pulled her up with the rest of my strength. When I could see again, Barbera had rejoined Batman. Joker aimed a gun at Barbera, it was all clear.

I couldn't move, I was barely alive due to the chemicals. I watched Bruce as dove in front of her. I yelled his name, the bullet collided with his lower abdomen. Joker ran up, shooting again and again at him. I tackled the guy, tears staying in my eyes.

A bomb went off beside us, Barbera was near it. I started to punch at him, then his poison completely filled me. I lost conscience quickly, the mission was a fail on all parts. The last thing I watched was the Joker run away laughing.

I woke up in an uncomfortable position. The room was lit up, it was day. I got up slowly and I didn't feel much pain. I ran over to Bruce, Batman, blood was everywhere.

I felt for a pulse that wasn't there. I started CPR, I got a small heartbeat. Soon enough I heard him breathe, it was faint, but it was there. I ran over to the debris and found Batgirl.

There wasn't much damage, until I saw the board piece in her shoulder. I started to shake her awake, "Batgirl!" I couldn't risk yelling her name in public. She woke up with adrenaline but pain shot her back down.

"Batman, we need to get him to the Bat Cave. Wait, I know a few trusted doctors and nurses." Once we got there I let Barbera be taken as well. They were my family, they couldn't leave.

I called Alfred and he said he would be there. I stood in a corner as Robin. A few people looked my way but didn't come over. They probably had a lot on their mind, too.

I had left the hospital and changed clothes and returned back. Barbera was out of costume when she came out. She had a glum look on her face. She had her arm in a sling.

"I'll be fine, but they told me about Ba-Bruce. He probably wont wake up, and if he does he wont ever completely heal." She looked down at her shoes, I looked Down, too. "He's been family since I was 5, we can't lose our family."

We hugged eachother tight, both if us had tears rolling down our eyes. We didn't make a sound, tears rolled down our face. That's when I saw Alfred, he looked like a mess. He knew everything, I knew he had been there for Bruce for a long time.

Barbera looked at me, "I'm gonna go see some family." I was about to reject, "I need a break. I can't go out there knowing that Bruce lost his life, if only part of it, for me. I'm sorry, I need to get myself together again. I'll be back Soon."

I nodded and hugged her tight. I knew that feeling, I could have done something. But instead I laid on the ground because of toxic chemicals. What an excuse, I watched Barbera go talk to Alfred.

As they hugged I pulled out my phone. Barbera was on break, Alfred was probably staying with Bruce, who would never be Batman again. I had a cousin who knew how to fight. She had been League of Assassins for a couple of years before, they had let her go when her dad had cancer.

She picked up, "Dick, I haven't heard from you in forever!" Before she could ask anything, I spoke up. "Barbera needs a break, Bruce is down for the count. Maya, I need your help in Gotham." She took a breath, "I'll be on the first flight."

Present Time:

I looked at Maya, she was pacing around. "She was trained, like really good trained, like her whole life or something. She knew what she was doing by heart, no mess ups." I looked Down, "It wasnt your fault, it was mine."

I brightened and she looked at me with a questioning face. "Cameras, she had a face mask, but it didn't cover her eyes. It covered her from the nose down. We can figure out who she is."

She looked at me with a smile. "Dick, have I told you that you are the smartest cousin I've ever met?" I quickly accessed the cameras and zoomed in on her face. It gave me her name before I could say anything.

"Kayla Banks, she's 15, and her dad is a wanted prisoner." Maya was 22, but we were pretty close anyways. "Why are we focusing on a teenager, we need to get Joker." Maya looked at me, "Joker isn't the only criminal around, and he's not on the grid." I looked at her, "Lets get the... Banks? Let's get Kayla and her dad, Dylan."
