"Ms Cameron?" "Ms Cameron, Mrs Bailey is ready for you now OK". The pretty receptionist said. I think her name was Jane -something-another. "Thank you," I said walking to the door on the left side of her desk. As I knocked I sent up a silent prayer of hope to the man above. "Come on in". A muffled voice replied. "Hey Ms Cameron, how are you thanks for coming in such short notice." Mrs Bailey said. Mrs Bailey was a lady in her late forty's and looked every bit the mother hen I'm sure she is. "I'm great Mrs Bailey. But I must say that you look mighty lovely in that suite. Why are you all dressed up?" I asked teasing her. "This old thing I picked it up out of the wash this morning and just put it on", she said blushing. "I don't think so, who is the lucky fellow you having lunch with? Do I have to warn Mr Bailey about your behaviour?" I saw tears welled up in her eyes. "Mrs Bailey did I say something wrong, if I did I so sorry." "It's not your fault dear, it's just that today is one year since I lost my husband in a car crash and I'm having lunch with is parents and I was trying not to think about it.'Cause if I do I'm going to cry." "Oh my God, Mrs Bailey I'm so sorry but honey if you want to cry it's best to do it now, 'cause it's going to be worse later. And I'm right here for you". "Thank you, you are so kind I'm going to enjoy working for you." "So I got the job", I squeaked. "Yeah you got the job". She said I sent a silent prayer of thanks to the man above, each time I start to doubt him he makes me believe again. "All you have to do is sign the contract, and you are ready to start." I didn't even read it before I signed it. After I finished up all the paperwork, Mrs Bailey took me to meet the boss man. His office was located on the right side of the receptionist desk. I waved to Jane the receptionist as I passed and she glared at me. What the hell. The name plate on his door read Chase Andrews, and I didn't put two and two together. The man inside the office had his back turned to us when we entered. "Here she is Mr Andrews', Mrs Bailey said. "Thank you that will be all for now." replied Mr. Andrews. I don't know if it was the voice or the man's stand -- self assured as if he owns the world -- or the tattoo that I could see on his forearm that had me on my guard. But when Mr Andrews turned round I nearly wet my panties. The devil wears Armani, there he was has handsome as ever the guy who nearly destroyed me. "Hello Abigail, it's been too long don't you think?" asked the man I once loved. All I could think was not to let him find out about the baby.
