Nothing

When I opened my eyes, had I really opened them? I could not even tell as all was haze, ash clogged my senses by every inch of my body as the reality before me wasn't hot and burning, nor was it cold as ice with a dim reality. The concept before me was as if hot and cold didn't exist, as if sight didn't exist, as if feeling and breathing didn't, as if I didn't exist. This hell didn't result in an eternal burning, nor did it result in an empty, cold void of nothingness. The paradox surrounding me whispered like a disappointed parent or guardian as it spoke nothingness, yet I knew, I knew I WAS the nothingness, I wasn't surrounded by it for it was me, myself, and I!

My sense of touch returned as I was immobilized still like a statue punished to stand watch for eternity with the same vision day by night and night by day in torment of the attention that surrounded it. Instead, a feeling of growth, alien to my primitive body as the only presence of growth had long since left my body, writhed and slithered outward with innumerable limbs of a gargoyle.

Till I touched it... Just a touch, nothing more, my senseless body could not even tell anymore.

My senses had returned and in a hideous and unnerving fashion as pain and agony festered my spreading roots to drag me into what felt like a drain, crushing the limbs and body of nothingness that I had horrendously become to a painful reality, as if I needed to exist, my mind could not comprehend such an unexplained fate that lead to baffle and doubt, possibly no individual could not come to the conclusion of becoming nothing and denying, denying until reality they returned again.

There I was: falling, my sight had returned to me as I gazed at what seemed to be arms, the roots that I had used to spread out the orb of void to escape myself and my consequence of not existing tied together, overlapping over and over one another until it became bone, muscle, flesh, and hair. The youth and softness of the flesh, no, my flesh was like an old memory that did not exist, but returned nevertheless whether I wanted it too or not. The same resulted in my other limbs, and finally my sight had split to two eyes instead of a horrendous all seeing one.

Falling thus as the remaining limbs and twigs snapped off easily and a clouded valley was set upon me, a land of corruption and stone buildings. I then landed, which spun my body around and placed my gently upon the concrete as if I had been there the entire time, not the slightest bent in these knees. My body started to feel light as instinct finally gave me a nudge, breath, I could breath once more. I reeled my wobbly head back as my back caught me on a brick wall and breathed once more, deeply as it only blurred my vision more. I had returned, though lost, I had denied nothingness and became living, reality once again. I stepped out, my small foot being clothed in strange peasantry shoes and pants as a coat, scarf, and a hat kept my youthful skin and face behind shadows.

"How about you?... What do you remember?" A young voice asked as I stood before a band of children surround a small light, each one of their small innocent eyes, ruined slightly as innocence was easily stained by cold reality and dreadful truth, gazing at me with curiosity.

"Nothing..." Was the only thing I could remember.
