"Has anyone seen Tyler?" I asked, storming into the Mystic Grill.
Caroline's cheeks flushed ferociously, turning away from my gaze. It was almost as if Tyler's name shot up her senses into overdrive. Matt nervously eyed me when his name left my lips. The two of them were emotionally involved with him somehow.
The only decision of mine was to decipher whether or not I needed to get involved.
"He was in here a couple minutes ago," Bonnie finally replied, sensing the same tension I had.
"He hasn't been answering my calls," I sighed. "He stormed out this morning with this look on his face that he was about to take down Darth Vader and all the storm troopers."
I sat next to Bonnie. The taller chairs at the bar were so high I could barely skim my toes across the floor. It was never a good thing in my opinion to be short. Maybe the only thing about being so short was that I seemed less intimidating, but with my powers, no human could even try to stop me. Power was something I never thought I could have. A large inheritance from my parents was likely, but my father's inability to keep it in his pants made me stronger than anyone out there.
"What's with the tension in here, Bon? I could cut it with a steak knife," I chuckled, trying to lighten the gloomy mood that hung over both Caroline and Matt.
"If I had to guess," Bonnie interjected. "It's relationship problems, probably dealing with your brother. That's probably why he stormed out of here so fast after his conversation with Care."
"Just stop talking about it," Caroline hissed, her blonde curls bouncing with rage because of how fast she turned her head around to shush Bonnie and I.
"Someone's hangry," I laughed, knowing the feeling of the uncontrollable rage that overcame me when I don't eat for a few hours.
A wolf's appetite mixed in with how fast my supernatural metabolism is usually isn't a good thing to be around.
Plus, my angry fuse didn't last very long.
Caroline's attitude only grew deeper and deeper into the madness I was feeding. It wasn't often I joked around her lately. With the war going on between our species, it was only natural for us to hate each other. But, I was a freak of nature. Literally. So, it was only my nature to be strange, thus, my continuous attempts at rebuilding our friendship that was slaughtered by the laws of man.
"Care, I'm sorry," I was smiling for once. "I'm just trying to lighten the mood."
Caroline came over to Bonnie and I. She narrowed her eyes at me. Her eyes were so close to each other, her eyelashes just barely touched. I could see the smile growing from the wrinkles in her eyes and the dimples forming around her lips.
"It's good to have you back, Abby," Caroline grinned, slapping my arm playfully. "I missed my best friend."
I eyed Bonnie, laughing.
"Let's go do something fun for a change," I suggested, squirming in my chair with the desire to catch a glimpse of my old life, before all of the events that changed me, really did change me.
"C'mon Bonnie," Caroline squealed. "It'll be just like old times!"
Bonnie sighed, looking down at her hands like they had been stained with this life we all led.
"I can't," Bonnie groaned. "I'm meeting a friend for some help with some stuff. I'll catch up with you guys later."
I pouted, turning away from Bonnie and turning towards Caroline.
Caroline and I returned to my house, cars piled in the driveway. I had forgotten that my mother had planned a tea for the historical society. With my first step into my house, the overwhelming scent of vampires slammed down it's fist through my nose and shattered the feeling in the back of my throat. Caroline looked at me with a panicked look, knowing well that I could smell them as much as I could feel their presence in my own house.
