How to a set a "trap"

Well. Now I'm going into full paranoia. I've begone to go back to my old paranoid self and have will be setting traps when I move to my own room. Sorry for that post earlier I'm just about ready to kill that guy, anyway I've come to realise that if I am to continue my Shifting Subliminal I need to make sure it's safe to do so.
So that's on hold.
Now I say "traps" because they are real easy to do and I haven't had trouble with getting them together. Here they are and if you want to do them without getting caught then listen up.
Easy: Window trap
Set something on the inside of your window, a dead big, a pencil or anything that can stay in it that isn't big. Set it between you screen and window. If someone has enter your room the object will be gone.
