She couldn't believe she was doing this.

Chloe Decker was going on a date with Lucifer Morningstar.

Here she was, standing in front of the mirror checking to make sure she looked presentable for a man who was self-centered, irresponsible and childish. He made all their cases about his problems and he threw himself into danger with that devilish smirk on his face without a care in the world. Why was she doing this again?

Because he's more than that, she told herself. He's loyal, brutally honest, and an amazing partner. I trust him with my life.

Chloe blushed at the memory of him asking her out today. Thinking back to it, she had gotten out of her car when she got a call from him...

"Speak of the devil," Chloe huffed, opening up her cell and answering.

"Detective! I have a favor to ask you. Before you go to your desk, could you be a dear and fetch me my lunch from in the fridge? It's in a brown paper bag, thanks!" Abruptly he hung up the phone without another word, forcing her to do as he asked. Shaking her head, she started off towards the employee lounge.

As she walked into the room, Chloe noticed Ella staring at her through the window. She waved excitedly and stood there watching her, as if something was going to happen. Chloe smiled politely before quickly grabbing the bag Lucifer wanted.

Chloe began making her way to her desk and noticed from afar that someone, most likely Lucifer, was at her desk. The chair was turned with the back facing her but she could see that unmistakable brown hair peeking up over the top. When she came closer, she set the bag down on her desk and opened her mouth to speak. But was cut off before she could even start.

"Darling, you're here!" Lucifer swiveled in her desk chair and revealed he was holding a bouquet. They were gorgeous! Some flowers were pink, light blue, yellow, while others were deep red, purple, and white. The border was decorated with fine pieces of lace. Chloe's eyebrows shot up as she looked at Lucifer.

"Why do you have flowers?" She asked skeptically. He grinned.

"Detective, would you be so kind as to open the bag?" Lucifer looked at her expectantly, urging her to do as he asked. Chloe, confused and uncertain, hesitantly grabbed the bag and peeked inside.

She pulled out a slip of paper along with a small rectangular box. Inside the box was a beautiful silver necklace, spelled out on the chain the word Partner. Her fingers traced over the letters fondly and with care. Chloe looked up at Lucifer who was watching, fascinated with her reaction. "Is this for me?" She asked, hoping it was but trying hard not to show it.

"Of course, love. Don't forget to read the note." He coaxed. Lucifer stood up and walked closer, gazing down at her as she fumbled to open the paper. Inside, it read: "Would you make me the happiest devil and kindly go out this evening with me on a date, Detective Decker?" Chloe blushed lightly, quickly folding up the note and shoving it in her back pocket. She glanced at Lucifer who was holding out the bouquet for her to take.

It all had happened suddenly, but she thought it was one of the most romantic things anyone had ever done for her. Especially coming from Lucifer. Chloe didn't expect him to be that sort of guy, but she was starting to love it.
