Guys I got my wisdom teeth out today omg

Here's my story (especially for those of you who are nervous to get yours out!):

As I sat in the exam room, I was crying and I tried to stop myself but I couldn't. I get really high anxiety when it comes to surgeries and it was honestly embarrassing crying in front of the nurse even though she was so nice. She took a few x-rays, showed us an informational video, and then the doctor came in so I could meet him.

My mom and I waited for about 5 minutes while they set everything up in a different room, then they said I could follow them into the operating room. The nurses who were all in there were really nice and  asked me questions about my life to distract myself from the IV going into my arm (small prick) and they put an oxygen mask around my nose. The next thing I knew, I was asleep and waking up in a recovery room. My mom was there, and the nurse helped me to my car and buckled my seatbelt for me (shoutout to nurse Angela she was the bomb)!

Since my body was used to the anesthesia, I felt fully conscious as I got home and just laid in my bed with gauze in my mouth until I fell asleep. When I woke up, the bleeding had stopped and I had to eat something so I could take my pills. Yay for ice cream.

All in all, it wasn't too terrible. My mouth is still very numb, though. The doctor and nurses were very nice and calmed my anxiety just a bit.

Plus, I didn't 'spill any secrets' of mine like the typical wisdom teeth stereotype. I was scared I would in front of my mom (even though I really don't have any secrets lol my mom knows everything), but nope. I was just super tired, and it was hard to move.

So, if you're scared about getting your wisdom teeth removed, don't be. Its awful to go through, but most everybody has to do it and by the next day you'll feel a lot better!

UPDATE: DAY #2 and #3:
The swelling is a lot worse, I feel like a chipmunk. I've been holding a ton of ice packs to my face. Everything is sore. I also still feel numb, by the doctor said it was because my wisdom teeth were so close to my nerves.

***Also, be sure to get your wisdom teeth out as early as you can (16 years old is the best age for most). The doctor said if I had waited just one more year the surgery would have been a lot more complicated.
