Nobody requested this! I JUST WANT TO!

-Len's POV-
"Wow! It really works!" My newest recruit said happily. "I told you it would. Are you satisfied, Gumi?" "Yes, very! Oh, Len, I think I might be in love~!" I flinched slightly as the hoping-to-be author grabbed me. "Um, no. I don't fall for humans." The green haired girl frowned at me. "Oh. Okay." I smiled charmingly. All according to plan. "So, until the next moon, I bid thee adieu~" I leaped straight out of Gumi's window. "Goodbye, Len~! See you the next night!"

Oh, I beg your pardon! You don't know exactly WHAT I am, do you? I am a Baku, a kind of demon. We usually eat dreams, but unlike most, my sister and I do a bit of a, um, trade. But I'm afraid I don't have time to explain.

"Len-kuuun! Your home!" My sister said excitedly. I smiled at her. "Hello, Rin. How are you? Work holding up okay?" "Yep!" She chirped happily. "I even got Kaito-kun to give me chocolates! But I don't want them, so I will give them all to you." I stared at the box in confusion. "Rin, are you sure? You love sweets!" "I insist, take them! I already know you hit a new record today, and it's five days until the full moon!" All the work we do resets every full moon, but we have a.... er..... secure future for our customers. I grabbed the chocolates from her. "If you SAY so...." I was pretty tired. Tonight was eventful, after all. I put the chocolates in the fridge and went to sleep.

-TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY LEN BEING JAZZY AS HELL-

Ah, no time to be alive like nighttime! Unfortunately, before I could do any work, I had to run an errand. However, I didn't know that little venture would change my life for four whole days.

I was going about this business, when a girl bumped into me, causing us both to tumble to the ground. The girl was... actually, the most beautiful girl I had ever seen! Her hair and eyes both shimmered an emerald green. "Ah! I'm so sorry, sir..." she said, flustered. That's when I realized. The contract usually begins when the being touches any part of my body, and she bumped into me. A new recruit! "Oh, it's no bother, mademoiselle!" I held my hand out to her, which she slowly used to pull herself up. "My most humble of apologies! I was going to a place where I can practice some things." I gave her a look of curiosity. "What are you practicing?" The girl's eyes sparkled. "Do you want to see? My name is Miku. Hatsune Miku!" She lent a hand out for me to shake. "I'm Kagamine Len. A pleasure, young Miss." I didn't have a chance to pull my hand away, for she started taking me somewhere.

When we arrived, it was much like a park. The gi- Miku, she turned around behind a fountain, lit up with lights... and started singing. I didn't know the song, but it didn't matter. She held such passion and joy in her voice. It was amazing! I couldn't stop myself from applauding. But then I felt two emotions overcome me at once.

The first is simply impossible to explain. Doki doki. My palms were sweating. Was my face red? This girl... Hatsune Miku... was she causing this in me? I felt sick, yet for some reason.... I didn't want a cure.

The other feeling was easy to explain, and J downright hated it! Dread. Miku wants to be a singer. Her dreams are most likely bright and happy. Usually, I crave something like this. But not this time. I didn't want to take this from her. But the contract can't be broken, and the full moon is in four nights! But WHY am I feeling this dread? Normally I don't care!

You see, we Bakus take more than just dreams. When the full moon sets, all of the customers' dreams vanish. But not just the dreams. Their hopes and desires. A monochrome life. Only seeing reality and the cruel society they live in. This is not what I want for her!

"Um, Len, are you okay?" Miku's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "HUH? U-um, yeah. I'm fine." I said, blushing slightly. The dreams of other customers are altered automatically, so it won't matter if.... "Miku, usually I have the most free time at night, so... do you want to meet here tomorrow night?" As always, her eyes glittered with excitement. "Of course! See you then? She said, and bounced away. "Yeah.... see you then..." I couldn't help but smile.

Later, I returned home, and Rin talked about her day, as usual. But I couldn't stop thinking about Miku. Her eyes... why do they sparkle so bright? "Len, are you alright? Your not sick, are you?" I looked up at Rin. "Yeah, I'm alright. Just got an accidental new recruit." "I see..." she looked at me intensely. "Wait, it was an accident. Do you want to help this girl?" She asked me. Rin wouldn't judge me for this kind of thing. "She doesn't want any help, as least out of what I know. So no, I don't want to." Rin looked at me with complete understanding. My voice softened slightly while describing her. "She has these long green pigtails that seem to bounce wherever she goes. And her eyes sparkle with such happiness in everything. I haven't heard a thing of nightmares from her, and when she sings... it just lightens up everything around her." Rin gasped excitedly. "LEN! Are you in love?!" "W-what?! No I'm not!" "Then why are you blushing?" "Im not blushing!" "Yes you are!"

After more of the discussion, I went to bed. But I couldn't sleep. Miku's eyes were still in my mind, and my dread has not gone away. It probably won't.

Because in three nights time, that sparkle I love in her eyes will be gone.
