Malani

She trudged into the murky tavern with more strain than she would ever admit to. So maybe she underestimated the girl who could summon lightening? Malani knew better now, and that was all that mattered.

It was time to finally contact her father! She hadn't spoken with him in weeks.

It was stuffy in the tavern and everyone looked like they hadn't bathed in weeks, smelled like it as well. How is it that the poor can afford a mug of ale but soap is just too luxurious? God, she hated peasants, they were practically dirt under her leather boots and dumb as rocks. Why they existed was far past her comprehension.

"I need paper," Malani demanded as she walked up to the owner. She was fat and seemed content with staying that way.

The owner looked up from the writing she was reading. Her eyes were small, probably just like her brain.

     "Okay, where to?"

"Must you know, I hardly find that to be any of your business?" Malani was seconds away from breaking her neck.

"Ma'am, I cannot send the letter if I don't have the receiving location." Her voice was calm and annoying the shit out of Malani.

"I can get it there myself, now give me some paper and ink! I'll pay you, of course, I'm sure enough to buy yourself something else to eat!" She stepped closer to the exasperating bitch, ready to just take it.

"You know what? I'm gonna have to ask you to leave!" Her voice rose an octave, but her expression was flat.

"I'm not going anywhere until you give me the fucking paper and the goddamn ink!" Malani shouted angrily, reaching for her blade. This could be solved easily with a few swipes of her dagger.

"Fillis, get her out of my face!" The woman stood up and pointed an accusing finger at her. It was a finger Malani would be delighted to remove.

Malani turned just in time to find a lofty man with a round face approaching her. She didn't have time for this!

Using a shield, she shoved the man back. Shouts of alarm came into the air.

All she needed was some fucking paper and ink! Malani looked to see dark liquor to have spilled onto what she came here for. Fantastic.

Malani threw shields up all around her, forcing multiple people to the ground, where they belonged.

"She's Fae!" People started to shout angrily. Malani made quick of exiting before a massacre took place then. If she could, she would, but there was no time to play.

When Malani decided none to be following her, she let her shields down and knew she somehow had to get the message to her father.

The last thing she remembered was being whacked on the head and catching a fast view of vibrant red hair.

"Can't have you spilling the beans to your daddy just yet," a male muttered.

Inferno

Inferno sat silently in the tub with her arms wrapped around her knees. Her wings sat limp on her back. The heated water felt great against her skin. Her orange locks were slick from being wet, clinging to any bare skin.

The only sound was the trickle of liquid falling from the faucet and into the water.

Inferno's body was slowly but surely recovering from the last transition. She could still recall the feeling of the change and how terrible it was to experience. Her only reassurance was that she only had one more transitioning period to go before she fully matured. There was no telling how tall she would be, but she was hoping to reach somewhere under seven feet.
