Phoebe and I have decided that on the way back home we are going to sit next to each other. After Robin ran out of the ceremony they had ended the ceremony quite quickly. The others were guided out of the building to the Polirecto. Along the way Phoebe and I were still laughing about the hilarious situation a few minutes ago. On the Polirecto we go and sit next to each other on third floor and I've noticed that I haven't seen Freckle in the ceremony or on the bus. I wonder where he is. Is he alright?
'So were do you live?' I turn around to face Phoebe and she smiles broadly. I answer: 'Pickledum, you?' 'Me too! How is it that I haven't seen you before. You know, Pickledum isn't really that big so it would be weird if I haven't seen you before right?' 'Oh no I have just moved in. Before I lived here I had lived in Yorkie but we moved because I had to go to a proper school like Zwickwald which is going to be my future school.' 'OMG I'm going to the same school! But believe me it doesn't look as amazing as you may think. It's a bit boring you know. But I guess that is how every school is like right?' I nod affirmative.
I look out of the window. Where is Freckle? Then all of a sudden the bus stops and we hear the doors open from the first floor.
'Am I late?' The voice who is speaking sounds really nervous and exhausted. Everybody in the bus stopped talking, muttering or even whispering so they could listen to the conversation downstairs. It's a bit creepy actually. The bus driver starts to speak: 'Young man, you have mist the whole ceremony. We are on the way back home and I'm afraid you'll have to wait until next year. What's your number?'
'I think that's going to be problem sir because I broke my bone in my right arm where my number is written so I'm wearing a bandage that is supposed not to come of until in a few weeks. But I can give you my nickname which is Freckle.' When I hear that name, I jump up and run down to the first floor while the others are looking at me. I seriously don't need all of that attention!
'Freckle?' I look at the brown curled tall boy standing in the doorway. 'Is that you?' His eyes widens and then all of a sudden he runs up towards me and hugs me tight. 'Lily!' He used to call me Lily because he couldn't find a better nickname or even a name for me so he picked Lily. I let go of the hug.
'It's Fiona. Why didn't your write to me? You promised you would write a letter to me every day but I haven't seen any letter from you this whole summer! Where are those letters Freckle?' By the sound of that name, everybody starts laugh loudly. He looks to the floor.
'I'm sorry Lily-' 'It's Fiona!' '-Fiona. It's a long story but I can't tell you this right know and I hope you'll understand when I'll tell you the truth. But now I have to concentrate on something more important-' 'What is more important then me?'
'My identity Fiona! I don't even know who I am right now! But still you are my best friend! Nothing comes to stand between you and me but I have to handle this right now because this is important to me! Do you understand?'
I don't know what I have to say... I am so angry at him for ignoring me for a whole summer and for not explaining why. But I also think that I actually know why he is doing this. I mustn't be easy to not know who you are right now. I nod affirmative and turn away but then he grabs my arm.
'Don't turn your back on me!'
'I know why you are doing this but please let me go-'
'Don't go! You know I'm sorry! I have being a total idiot for ignoring you for a whole summer but I'll explain later-'
I turn around to look at him.
'I need some alone time Freckle. Please! Let me go!'
I pull out of his grip and run up the stairs with tears in my eyes. When I sit back down in my chair Phoebe asks me if I'm okay. I nod but my tears are still running down my cheeks. I hear my name shouting from downstairs. Then it gets louder and louder while a person runs up the stairs.
No Freckle! Leave me alone!
   'FIONA! Oh there you are!'
He runs up towards me while saying: 'I'm sorry! I'm sorry!'
Phoebe reacts: 'Geez man! Can't you see that you are making a scene?!'
The bus starts to move.
He looks around with a lot of eyes looking back up at him. He nods.
'Please Fiona! I'm sorry but I'll explain as soon as we get of the bus-'
'She is getting of the bus with me! Idiot! And by the way you are definitely making a scene right now!'
I can't get a word out of me and my tears won't stop.
'-I don't care! Look Fiona, just listen to me-'
'Why won't you go back to your seat and think about what you have done wrong, Freckle! Just leave me alone!', I say with a sob coming out of me.
He looks shocked but then walks back to the staircase and runs up to the fourth floor.
'Are you alright?', Phoebe asks. I shake my head. No I'm not. He made a promise and he broke that promise. And then he says that his identity is more important then me? How could he? Phoebe's parrot starts to talk and my little fox comes to sit on my lap and crawl into this fetus position. I hope he has a good explanation for all of this.
