This is proof that Toriel and Asgore know about the Undertale Fandom. They were aware that they were shipped, and the best shipname they found was Asriel. So, that's what they named their son.
Or maybe they weren't aware of the Undertale Fandom, and just came up with the name Asriel, not knowing about the shipname thing. Until one day, they and Asriel discovered the Undertale Fandom, and laughed at it.
