"You know, Olive, you could have any boy in this food court. I don't understand why you're waiting for true love," My, I wasn't so sure at this point, best friend mocked. One of her perfectly manicured fingers twirling her platinum blonde hair. Juel seemed ditzy, but she wasn't. She just acted like it, which almost made it worse.
"Any boy isn't good enough, you know that Juel," I sigh and set down my tray full of unhealthy goodies I reluctantly bought from the 'alacarte' line, mostly due to Juels persistent nagging. She had this thing where if she doesn't buy it, it doesn't seem like she's eating as many calories. Which is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard, huh maybe she is ditzy.
"I know, when a boy sees past your beauty then and only then can he have your heart," She shook her head slowly, her blonde hair shaking around her perfect heart-shaped face, and snatched a pretzel from my tray.
"That's not how it is, and you know it," I scold, and pull my tray further from her.
"It's like a bad cinderella story, except you have to be the one putting the shoe on stinky boy feet," She wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"You act like I'm trying out every guy as I go along," I laugh, I never really had a real boyfriend and there was always a reason why I never did.
"Of course, when you know, you know," She mocked again and dipped my pretzel in my cheese.
The last part she got right, and it was true I believe when you know you really do know. Juel wasn't fond of me not letting myself live enough, or get distracted by boys enough in my last year of highschool. I just couldn't, why waste my time on something I know isn't going to last till 'Death do us part.' It seemed silly to me, of course if I had a good feeling about someone I'd pursue it but it usually ended with the guy feeling me up, or being the total opposite of what he portrayed himself to be.
After Juel and I ate all the food, we left to the library that hardly anyone knew about in the far back corner of the mall. Most people go here to shop, me and Juel well we go here to eat, and blog. It's what we did, and it's how we became friends.
We never knew eachother until freshman year, she followed my blog and then I followed hers and I knew we were suppose to be bestfriends. Just like how I will know, when my one true love comes along.
We sat next to eachother, the only two computers in the library and it was a fact that we'd be hogging them until the library closed.
"So, did you hear about that new band from Australia?" Juel questioned, she always knew about things before I did and that's really what her blog was based off.
"Maybe, what's their name?" I asked, busy typing out the latest in the fashion world. Over the shoulder bags were in, and anything without one was out.
"5 Seconds of Summer, Luke Hemmings is too perfect to even be real. I have my doubts," She said, her fingers punching the keys.
"Should I google them?" I sigh, and roll my eyes. This is almost an exact repeat of when One Direction became a band.
"Uhm obvi, do you not know me at all! Wait though, google them by name you'll get the They-are-way-too-attractive effect, rather then just the Wow-they're-attractive effect if you do it like that," She babbles, making little sense, her green eyes still locked to the screen.
I shake my head and type 5 Seconds of Summer band member names.
First I google Calum's, his brown eyes captivating and very sweet. Then Luke's, he is unbelievably attractive just like Juel had said. Then Michael, which I think I like the best out of them so far. Then Ashton.
My breath gets caught, when you know you know. My voice keeps repeating in my head, a part of me wants to smack myself. After all it's just a photo, not the real person. He's just so... perfect.
"What, find one you like?" Juel says, finally turning toward me and my computer screen.
"Oh, Ashton. You can have him," She shrugs and turns away.
"Juel..." I whisper, it's almost a whine.
"What?" She looks at me, and I look at her. She sort of just stares at me, and then realization settles in and her eyes are wide and so is her mouth. She licks her lips nervously, and mouths when you know, you know. I just nod my head, because what else am I suppose to do? Drool, I don't think so. Olive Jane is too classy, or at least I thought, for that.
