Jake English had had a "pretty shit day". Or at least that's what he called it. The poor Brit had a rough day at work then had been kicked out by his roommate Jane because Roxy was staying over for the weekend. He knew she hadn't meant any harm, but it felt like salt in the wound at that point.

So, here he was, standing on the doorstep of an apartment he knew was probably going to be crowded. Jake lifted his hand to knock on the thick, badly painted door in front of him.

After a few knocks Jake heard loud footsteps race in his direction and he almost broke down in tears. Sure the day had been rough but breaking down now would just be dumb. Jake took a deep breath and tried to put on a smile, hoping it looked somewhat realistic.

The door swung open to reveal messy blonde hair and a dark pair of shades. "Heya Dirk." Jake said, his voice almost strained to sound happy. He tried to give a wave, but decided he looked stupid and put his hand down.

"Jake, oh, come in." Dirk stepped aside to let Jake enter. Jake was thankful he didn't ask about why he'd shown up so late with nothing besides his phone and it's charger.

Jake took a step inside Dirk's house, removing his shoes and placing them by the door. He looked up at Dirk, who had a very neutral expression gracing his features. Great, Jake was all alone in this one.

"What's wrong?"

Shit, there it was. The question Jake was hoping wouldn't be asked. Jake tried to look away from Dirk, but his eyes were already locked with the other's and it was hard to break eye contact with eyes like Dirk's.

"Oh nothing, just a bad day at work." Jake said with a shrug, trying to play his sadness off. "I'll be fine in a while."

Dirk shook his head, closing the door and looking back up at Jake. "I'll have the movie ready in five minutes, make yourself comfortable."

Then he was gone, Dirk was in the living room setting up Jake's favorite Studio Ghibli movie. The same movie that just happened to be the first movie the two ever saw together.

It took Jake a few seconds to process what was happening before padding into the living room and curling up against the couch's armrest. Jake pulled one of the blankets Dirk always kept on the couch and wrapped himself in it, sinking into the extra soft cushion.

Jake watched Dirk set up the movie, then go into the kitchen and grab each of them something to drink. He plopped down next to Jake after a few second, placing the drinks down of the coffee table in front of them.

Dirk pulled Jake's cocooned body into him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. Jake snuggled closer as Dirk started the movie, moving his blanket to cover both of them.

Jake's head eventually fell onto Dirk's shoulder and Dirk's hand found its way to Jake's hip. Which both of them were totally okay with, as long as they got to be in contact.

The movie ended in what seemed like no time at all and Jake looked up to Dirk for guidance. "What now?" He asked in a slightly sleepy voice.

Dirk's poker face broke out into a wide grin. "I call big spoon!" Dirk dropped Jake's hip and bolted into his bedroom.

Jake gasped and flew up off the couch. "What!! Dirk get back here!" Jake chased after Dirk, albeit slightly sluggish from snuggling against Dirk for so long.

Jake laughed himself onto the bed, landing next to Dirk and grinning at him. "You can't be the big spoon without a little spoon." Jake said, waiting for Dirk to latch onto him and never let go. Not like Jake would mind, Dirk was a godly cuddler.

"Whatever you say wise guy." Dirk moved closer to Jake, wrapping both arms around him and resting his head on Jake's shoulder.

Jake made a satisfied noise before letting his eyes fall shut and practically melting into Dirk. "Thanks." He said softly, letting Dirk hug him tighter.

Maybe this day wasn't so bad after all.
