iii.
innocence

There is a slight grace
It lies within you.
It holds onto you
When you smile
Laugh and sing.
Yet the darkness
It corrupts you.
And you lose yourself
In alcohol and pleasure.
The devils words
Whisper inside your ear.
Lust and greed
Overtaking
What was once considered
An innocent soul.

There is a light of purity
It blossoms inside me.
When I smile
You see it, don't you?
It hides the demons
Floating dangerously close
To the surface.
And while I lose myself
In books and writing.
The damage of pain
Overtaking
What was once considered
An innocent soul.

Yet together
We are the same
You and I.
My writing reeks
Of sin and addiction.
Your lips taste
Of poetry and wine.
In the end
Who is innocent.
Is it you
Or is it I?
