Breadcrumbing, as defined by Urban Dictionary, is when a guy or girl gives someone just enough attention to keep their hope of a relationship alive.

Like a duckling starved for months
Yes, she knows you treat her as such
No right to ask for much
She gets startled with every "Ping!"
For the message it may bring
She checks, hoping for something
But again, there was nothing
They ask, "Why suffer?"
"There's still hope," she answers
A thread of hope, she clings to
You've thrown at her, a long time ago
Needless to say, it gets tiring
Being a victim of your breadcrumbing
Do her a favor, and let her go
She loves you too much to do so
