A/N: I wasn't sure if I wanted this to be a 2 part or 1 part story so I decided to have the first part going over the confession and the next part can be high-quality NSFW. I love Kurapika with all my heart and I wanted to write something nice and angsty for him. Comments do help me out a lot since this is my first time posting here! Enjoy reading!

You paced around the perimeters of the hotel lot. You overheard the panicked and desperate voices from the mafia leaders, all of them demanding their weapons, but that didn't stop you from the sounds of your heart thumping against your ribcage. You weren't the type to get anxious easily but whenever Kurapika was gone for too long it was hard for you not to worry. Just two hours ago he told you and Melody that he had business to deal with regarding with Neon's father and that it was an emergency meeting, but you knew that it was a lie.

It was your job to look after her father since he had grown distant after his daughter fell into a coma; if he had said anything, he would've had mentioned it to you first before reporting it to Kurapika. Plus, when you caught a glimpse of your friend's eyes, they were shining a dangerous shade of red. You were pretty sure Melody also knew that something fishy was going on considering she mentioned his rapid pulse. Either way, Kurapika left in a hurry shortly afterward. You had wanted to say something back then, something that would've allowed him to let you join in on whatever mess he had gotten himself into, but you'd knew he would've pushed you away from any danger.

"I can't take this anymore," You hastily fished out your phone from your suit's pocket and called the first number in your call's history. You had promised him that you wouldn't bother him unless it's in the case of an emergency but technically getting personal with the world's dangerous gang is nothing to brush off. You tapped your foot against the marble pavement each time the ringing went off, praying that he hasn't killed himself yet.

Apparently, Melody had caught attention to your anxious state and weaved through the bustling crowd over to you. She gave your sleeve a single tug and flashed you a worried expression. "Is it about Kurapika?"

You huffed and clenched your phone, "When is it not about him?" The ringing continued until it reached a dead dial. Both anger and fear rushed through your veins. This wasn't the time to ignore important calls. "Dammit!"

Melody flinched at the volume of your voice as she watches you dial the number again. "I understand that you two are close friends but... don't you believe that he can handle himself?"

In terms of strength and intelligence, Kurapika had the upper hand, though he was also known for his stubbornness and rash thinking when he's fired up. During the Hunter Exam, you were one of the first people he had confessed his goals to and, ever since then, you've been offering him a good listening ear and soundly advice so that he wasn't completely blinded by his emotions. However, tonight obviously had different plans.

"He's strong, I'll admit that, but he's anything but immortal." Kurapika's phone went dead once more before your vision grew hazy from the bottled-up tears. "I just want him to be happy and safe. I know this is his battle but there's no way I'm allowing him to go through hell by himself."

A familiar flute tune soothed your ears and untensed the muscles in your body. You looked down to see Melody looking at you with hopeful eyes as she plays her instrument just loud enough for you to hear. "I'll cover your position while you go search for him." It sounded more like a demand rather than a suggestion.

While you knew it was unprofessional to leave your position, especially with what was going on, you couldn't get Kurapika out of your mind until you knew he was safe. Shoving the cellular device into your suit's pocket, you profusely thanked the Melody before turning onto your heels and sprinting to the first place that came to mind - his hotel room.
