Picture of Elizabeth Stilton...isn't she purty?!

~ Lilliana ~

The next day after my texting conversation with Colton, I'd been avoiding him. I have no idea why, though. A part of me yearned to talk to him more—like he did me, and that honestly terrified me and excited me at the same time. I haven't seen him around, nor his buddy group. It was just Nica, Elizabeth and I at our table, doing our assignments.

Scratch that, I see the trio coming. Nathaniel Ross and Colton Blake ahead of the group; they seemed like Alphas who ran their packs. Woah, where did that metaphor come from? I pushed it away and focused on the my task at hand.

"Hey, long legs?" We heard from behind us. None of us turned around, too preoccupied with our work to pay mind to them. "Lilliana, I think your name is,"

"Yes, that's her name, Nate. How many times have I gotta tell you?"

Someone cleared their throat, probably Nate. "Lilliana, my boy Colton here has something to say to you."

"What, no! Nate, shut up!" I heard a slap.

"Ow, C! You're messing up my mane." I cracked a small smile, biting back a laugh. Nate finally got it handed to him.

"You'll get over it. Now, what we came hear to say was—"

"Oh cut the fancy speech, boy. You want her, she don't want you. You wanna bang her, she don't wanna give you shit. You wanna get with her, she—"

"NATE!" Another slap. "Could you, for once, shut that trap of yours?"

"I'm outta here," I stood up, collected my papers into a pile and walked away from the fiasco. I was tired of this; why couldn't I just sit with my friends and them not disturb our peace? I snuck into the study lounge—nobody was here. I sat down with my binder and laid my papers on the table. Great, I lost track of where I was!

I heard a knock at the door. I looked up and frowned. "Hi,"

"Hi. I'm gonna be the mature one—cause Nate clearly isn't—and apologize for what we did."

I shrugged and held my pencil over my paper. "It's fine."

"I hate those two words," he said suddenly.

"What?" I caught his gaze.

He cleared his throat before speaking. "The two words I loathe the most: I'm/it's fine and I'm/it's okay. 'Cause you know what? Nobody truly is."

"Are you here to teach me a lesson or something? Cause I've got some work to do."

Colton arched his brow in amusement. "Well, I happen to be here cause I want to be. Like I said last night, I enjoy talking to you. You surprise me, you challenge me—I'm not used to that, and I like it."

I nodded slowly, expressing my confusion. "O-kay?"

He laughed and sat down on the chair next to mine. He brushed his dark hair back and got comfy. "Let me put it this way; before you came here, I was letting Nate tug me around to hook ups and random girls with skirts up to their thighs..."
