Sebastian was wrong. People did notice.
He jumped off the bike and strolled off into the party, leaving me alone; terrified to get off the bike in case somebody would see something inappropriate.
"Hey, Rowan! Are you coming?!" His obnoxiously loud voice filled the night, laced with humour. Glad he was enjoying himself.
I threw my legs over as quickly as I could- but to no prevail. The wolf-whistles followed loudly and almost immediately. Scarlet, I pulled the dress down as quickly as I could, before walking into the house with my head held high. I was used to the stupidity of teenage boys- you had to, if you wanted to remain popular- but I was constantly surprised at their lack of maturity.
The party was loud, music booming from every room of Mia Pall's house. I always wondered why her parents let her have such wild parties- up until I saw her mother dancing on a tabletop in some club. Apparently, if Mrs. P can dance on tables, Mia is allowed throw a huge party every week while her mother is clubbing. Seemed fair.
"Rowan! Rowan, sweetie, over here!"
I winced. Brittney had obviously found the booze- and was already hammered. I grabbed her arm, bringing her with me to the kitchen so I could get a drink for myself and some coffee for her. Her liver will thank me later on. She just continued to giggle and tell me all about the people that were here. I rolled my eyes as she gave a detailed description of the hook-ups she had already. There were some things a girl really didn’t need to know about- this being one of the bigger ones.
From the front door of Mia’s house, it usually took two minutes to get to the kitchen. Her house was huge, the sitting room twice as big as my own room and the hall a winding mass of doors and adjoining rooms. If I didn’t know this house well, I’d be more confused than Seb in English class. But with the house full of teenagers on a mission to get as drunk as possible in the shortest time possible- and numerous people calling out to greet me- it took over ten minutes. I didn’t mind, I liked parties. And the longer I could stay at one, the better. Not that I didn’t like being at home, it was just that I preferred being out and socialising with my peers. It was just the way I was.
Eventually, I got there, sighing when I realised that the makeshift bar was surrounded by people. Making my way to the kettle to make Brittney her coffee, I looked around for the girl herself. I lost her somewhere along the way, and only thought to look now. She was nowhere in sight. Of course not. I rolled my eyes and tuned off the kettle. Wouldn’t be needing it any
As I walked over to the bar, I smiled at the people passing. I was sure most of them went to my school, but I couldn’t be sure. Most people looked the same here- dyed blond hair, blue eyes made ‘POP’ with black eye-liner… I couldn’t be blamed in thinking that really.
The line at the bar had shrunk considerably- the band seemed to have just arrived. I had to hand it to her; Mia really knew how to throw a good party. Though, as I thought it, I watched as the person in question vomited into a plant pot outside the kitchen. “She may know how to throw a good party, but that girl needs to lay off the alcohol,” I thought, grimacing as she just wiped her mouth and walked back into the party, without even bothering to rinse out her mouth. She really had no shame.
Eventually, I reached the top of the line and quickly grabbed a shot. After knocking it down as fast as I could, I surveyed my surroundings. Britt was nowhere in sight, and Seb had disappeared the second we arrived. There were a few of my other friends, though, so I made my way over to them, grinning as they waved.
“Rowan! I didn’t know you would be here tonight!” Bree screamed over the music. I laughed. I was always at parties, so I don’t know why she was so shocked. Maybe it was the only interesting topic she could think of. Honestly, I wasn’t surprised. That girl was the reason blondes are called stupid.
