Chapter 1: Lily's POV

Hi, my name is Lily Jones and I am moving to Forks, Washington. I have really pale skin and shiny gold eyes. My hair is down to the middle of my back, brown as usual. My lips had a slight bright redness to it. I am 16 years old in human years. Oh wait, I should probably mention, I'm a vampire. I have been a vampire for only four months. I skipped the whole newborn thing when I was changed. I was never a crazed newborn, so I was aloud to be around humans. That is a plus for me considering I love school.

I have super speed and amazing hearing. I'm not like a normal vampire. I drink animal blood instead of human blood, but that's not the strangest thing. I have special powers. I am a Stealer or a person who can take someones power and have it for there own. It only works if that person tries it on me. I have extra sensitive hearing, even for a vampire. And my strength and speed is alot better then a normal vampire. Like all vampires, my skin sparkles in the sun. I don't know why that is, we just do.

As I was saying, my Mom is making me come to Forks to see my human dad. I was reluctant to go, but my mom is really good at persuasion. That's her power, she can force people to obey her. She doesn't like it, but it gets me to do my chores. Her power is called Charmspeak. It isn't very powerful, so she can only use it on small matters. I was running threw the woods at top speed so I could get there quickly. My mom told me to run there because she knows I don't need a plane to get there. My dad doesn't know that I am a vampire though so I need to keep that secret.

After almost five minutes of running, I found myself standing in front of my Dad's house. It was a small 2 bedroom, one bathroom complex, nothing impressive. There was only one car parked in the driveway and that happened to be my dad's cherry red mustang with a black top. His dream car. He didn't tell me he finally bought it. I could smell my dad's scent in the driveway and hear the thump, thump of my Dad's heart beat in the house. I laughed when I heard my Dad watching the baseball game on TV. Same old Dad. I walked into the house and my throat burned when I smelled my Dad's scent on every inche of this place. It wasn't that good of a smell, but I realized that I forgot to feed. My eyes were starting to change to black very slowly.

My Dad won't notice my eye color, but I'm not sure how long that will last. I entered the living room, stood in the doorway, and waited. My Dad's full attention was on the TV screen, not noticing me. He was a tall, gangly brown haired man with blue eyes. He had wrinkles around his mouth that labled him as a smiler. He had a mustache above his upper lip that looked like a caterpillar. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a long sleeved, button-up blue T-Shirt. He was very handsome for a 40 year old man, but he was my Dad. I don't think of him as handsome. After a short moment, I cleared my throat in a human way to announce my presence.

His head snapped up when he heard me. He had a scared expresson on his face that made me almost laugh. Almost. Then he realized it was me, a grin spreading across his face that caused his wrinkles to be more pronounced. His eyes twinkled at the sight of his only daughter.

"Hey, Lily," He said, excitedly," How was your flight?"

"Oh, it was great." I lied.

"How's your mom doing?" He asked curiously.

"She's good. She just sold a new painting for about...a thousand dollars." I told him. I loved that my mom got to live her dream. She always loved to paint, even when she was little. We always had fun painting pictures together. At first it was just for fun, until a guy came and saw one of her pictures. He decided to buy it off of her and that's how she started her art business. Dad knew about her interest in painting, so he was glad she got a job she loves.
