I woke up with an extra jump in my step. After the dinner mom went to bed, but not before reading Peter a book and putting him to bed. I could not remember the last time she even told him goodnight. Maybe this was the start of a new beginning for our family. I felt great on the inside and I wanted to look good too. I, surprisingly, took time to put together an outfit that was cute yet practical for school. I decided on skinny jeans rolled up, black wedges and a pink, flowy off the shoulder shirt. I was proud of my outfit choice and decided I should go shopping this weekend for new clothes. On sale cute clothes that is.

Getting in the car with Kyra could go one of two ways, she could still be ticked about the conversation we had about her and Max or she now understands where I was coming from. I hope it's the later one because I can't stand arguing with her.

I got in the car and she gave me a caramel frappe and cake pop. A good morning it was indeed.

"Look you are right. I know Max has feelings for me and I used that to my advantage to distract myself from my parents leaving again. I guess with Halloween coming up I thought we would finally spend a holiday together again. It's stupid because it is just Halloween, but I just wanted to spend time with them again," Kyra said.

"I know this is hard Kyra. I think you and Max would be a very cute couple, but if you are not ready for that step you can't lead him on. I am glad you understand where I was coming from. Besides I heard Hyatt is throwing a killer Halloween party," I said with a wink.

"Oh, we are going to need a shopping trip then. We need to look amazing," She said. With all past thoughts forgotten about Kyra and Max, we started to plan what we should be for Halloween. By the time, we got to school we were currently discussing if we should go as hot fairies or baseball players.

"Fairies we could wear glitter and those fake wings. We could also buy those cute, short tutu's that are really for kids, but make the boys go bananas," Kyra said.

"But baseball players we could wear spandex shorts and unbuttoned baseball jersey. I could also wear Adam's favorite team then maybe he would talk to me," I said.

We both agreed we would think about this important decision and see what we could find tomorrow while shopping.

I barely made it two steps into the school, when Hyatt approached me. Well I guess my morning was going too well for the universes liking.

"Good morning gorgeous. Did you miss me yesterday? I sure did miss seeing your beautiful face in math class, and hearing you tell me to shut up when I interrupt the teacher for the fifth time," He said with a wide grin on his face.

"Oh, you were gone yesterday? I didn't really notice, but now that you mention it, it was a lot quieter in math," I said with slight sass.

"Wow your words wounded me. But I know you don't mean that. You were probably in distraught with me not being here yesterday."

Before I could think of better comeback Kyra came up to usher me to class.

"Break it up Zayn and Gigi," I gave her questioning look, "What they are the power couple of this generation, geese," she said.

A little part of me felt something seeing the frown on Hyatt's face as I walked away, but it was gone as soon as I remember I could not afford to get another tardy. I replayed what he said to me, not only did he call me gorgeous, but he also called me beautiful. Maybe I was flustered because I was not used to being complimented, but it felt good. If only the compliments were from the one person I admired most.

By the time math class rolled around I was ready to talk to Hyatt. I was going to say we should be friends and after being friends I would make my decision. Not only was this a good opportunity to make a new and nice friend, but if we started hanging out maybe we would invite me over when Adam was also over. I felt bad for thinking this was, but I knew this was my chance to finally further my relationship with Adam.

Surprisingly, Hyatt only interrupted twice throughout class and I could not help, but think if it was because of me. Was he trying to be more respectful because I told him he should? I wasn't sure, but I was grateful. He caught up to me walking out of the door, but before he could say what was on his mind I needed to execute my plan.

"Hyatt, listen you are very sweet and I am not turning you down per say, but before I can make my decision I need to get to know from a friend perspective. I hope that is okay. I mean we can still hang out," I told him.

"Ash, of course I am okay with that. I think that is fair and I have always liked a little challenge. This one I will call Mission win Ashley's heart," he said.

I could not tell if he was being truthful when the last thing he said or sarcastic. I guess I would know after we hung out. I was hoping it would be soon because I could use another friend and an opportunity to see Adam.

We continued to walk down the hallway making small talk and when we passed Joni I didn't even notice the dirty look she gave me when we turned the corner. By the time we got to the locker bay, we said goodbye and we went our separate ways.

By the end of the day, I was packing up my books in hopes to leave early enough to have time to run to the store before Peter got home, when my phone chimed. It was a text from Hyatt that read, Tonight. I'll pick you up at 7. Dress according to the weather. x

Before I could respond, I received another text from Hyatt, it doesn't have to classified as a date either, just two friends hanging out.

I let out a small chuckle and responded with my address. For some reason, I found myself getting excited. Probably because it was my first non-date/date I have ever been on.
