"Leni get up it's time for school Sara will be here to pick you up soon." Leni's mom says from the other side of her bedroom door.
Leni groans "I'm up." She says so her mother will leave her alone.
What do I wear? How should I do my makeup and hair? I'll just have Sara do my hair and makeup.
When Leni heads downstairs her parents have already left for work. She puts her headphones in and blasts rock music while she raids the fridge for anything edible and finds leftover pizza.
Her phone vibrates there's a text from Tommy: Good morning Beautiful<3 Leni smiles and rolls her eyes she answers a simple: Morning
Sara walks into the Kitchen hands on her hips she says something but Leni doesn't hear her.
She takes her headphones out "What was that?" Sara shakes her head.
"You are going to go deaf. What I said was Why aren't you dressed." She points and Leni's attire a tank top and shorts.
Leni shrugs " I figured you'd get me clothes and do my makeup. I guess you don't want to." Leni tries to hide her smugness.
Sara's eyes narrow.
"Fine. Get your butt up stairs so I can get you presentable before we're late for school." Leni laughs and runs up the stairs.
She sits on her chair in her room and sits still while Sara does her thing.
Leni's makeup feels ten pounds heavier than usual. Well I guess this is what I get for not being ready. Sara does her hair up in a messy bun and picks out a white blouse and blue jeans with dress shoes for Leni to wear. Despite the way she feels about being this dressed up Leni doesn't say anything knowing this was her choice. She knows my style. She's just punishing me for not being ready. Sara finishes and has Leni look in the hall mirror.
Leni grimaces. Her eyes have thick eyeliner and her lips are bright red clashing with the white shirt and her pale skin. The shoes pinch her feet a little. She doesn't say anything for the fear of Sara's wrath.
"It's 7:45 we're going to be late." Leni says. "And who's fault is that?" Sara grumbles under her breath. Leni smiles.
She enjoys annoying Sara it's just fun to her. They head out to Sara's car a fancy black impala with a V8 engine. Sara has a lot of pride for her car she put a lot of work into it and bought it herself. Leni felt it was a little flashy. Her parents had bought her a black mustang as an apology for working so much all the time but she felt more embarrassed about it than grateful.
They pull into the school parking lot next to Liam he's leaning against his black porsche. His mom is a doctor and his Dad is chancellor at the local college. Sara gets out and Leni stays in the car for a moment dreading dealing with school. She gets out of the car and Liam raises an eyebrow when he sees her.
"Sara got me ready today".
"I can see that" He says. "What's wrong with some eyeliner?" Sara asks him.
Leni leaves them to argue while she goes to her locker to drop off her books. The halls are full of kids. The noise is almost unbearable so Leni puts her headphones in and turns it all the way up. Ignoring all the people around her.
I hate it here. The warning bell rings Leni walks sluggishly to her first hour. The following two hours pass quicker than expected. She walks into third hour and Tommy is there. They share a table in science Tommy understands science if it weren't for him Leni would be failing.
Tommy has dark brown hair and green eyes. He's athletic but doesn't really play sports just runs on his own time. He's always seemed to have a thing for Leni since sophomore year so he asked her out.
"How are you love?" Tommy asks.
Leni laughs "What's with the nicknames lately?"
Tommy shrugs he laces their hands together under the table.
"There's nothing wrong with the way I talk to my girl is there?" he asks.
"Depends on who your girl is because I'm nobody's girl you don't own me."
Tommy laughs "Touché." Third hour ends too quickly. Tommy walks Leni to her locker
"What are you doing later?" he asks.
"Both much my parents are working somewhere across the world for three days. So I'll be doing homework and reading."
"Mind if I come over later?"
"No. I don't mind at all"
Leni smiles at him he's only two inches taller than her. He kisses her gently. When he pulls away Leni laughs.
"Did you forget I had lipstick on?" Tommy grimaces
"I'll sit with you at lunch after I go wash this crap off. I don't understand why you use it. It's not like you need it".
He kisses her again quickly and walks off to the bathroom while Leni heads the opposite direction to the cafeteria.
The lunch room is even louder than the halls, Leni puts her headphones back in as she gets her tray. She finds the table where Sara and Liam sit. She sits on the bench next to Sara across from Liam. They are grinning at each other like they have sort of secret. Oh crap what are they going to do to me now. Leni takes her headphones out.
"What happened to your lipstick?!" Sara says angrily . Leni raises her hand in surrender
"I'm not the one who took it off."
Isaac laughs catching on to her train of thought. It takes Sara a minute to figure out why we're laughing.
"Ooooh so you talked to Tommy, huh?"
"Yes she totally talked to him." Liam says laughing again.
Leni rolls her eyes at him.
"Yeah I talked to him he's going to sit with us. On the other hand, why are you guys not arguing. The only time you work together is when it against me or for me. What's up?"
"What is that supposed to mean?" Liam asks in defence.
Leni shrugs.
"I'm not going to drive you to school anymore." Sara says happily.
"Why?" Leni asks surprised.
"Because you know how to get up and get ready yourself and you need to drive the car your parents got you."
Leni glares at her then at Liam.
"You just want to see the car." He raises his hands up in defeat.
"I don't want to drive it." Leni argues.
"You can't rebel against your parents if they aren't even here to see it ."
Leni goes silent she would pick at her food but it is a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich. She tosses it across the table to Liam who is studying her face. Leni ignores his analysis.
Tommy shows up two minutes later with McDonald's.
"I knew lunch was Pb&j, so I went and got you chicken nuggets."
Leni kisses him on the cheek. Sara and Liam groan and yell
"PDA!"
Leni sticks her tongue out at them. Tommy wraps his arm around her waist, Leni leans her head against him. Before she knows it the bell rings.
