Isabella found herself lying down, but the air around was as smoldering as a thick sheet. Her arms and legs mimicked lead, and she found just a threat of a headache seeping in. The ebony didn't want to move from the bittersweet comfort.
A muffled male voice spoke, but it was not deep enough to be a man's, "Isabella? Umm... Hey..."
Isabella tried to open her eyes, but the same heavy presence barely allowed her to respond when the boy spoke again.
"Wow... Okay, well, there's some things that I gotta explain to you... so..."
The girl finally managed to breath out, "Where is my Wolf Child?"
The person heaved a sigh, and then muttered something that got lost in the air, but Isabella did hear him say, "I should have listened to Leer when he said read history..."
Isabella opened her mouth, but the boy cut her off by saying, "Oh right! Eclipse... Or Luna or something like that- she's safe. Yeah, Isabella Steele took her home and both of them were safe..."
She smiled, and the gratitude towards the boy for providing this information was obvious. But something caught her attention.
Who was this Leer person?
But more importantly, who was this boy right here?
A scuffle, like paper being manhandled was heard. She held an open ear when she found that it was coming from the same direction as the boy's voice.
"Isabella," he cleared his throat, and began in a painfully drone voice, "I'm from somewhere far away- psh, that's obvious- anyways, I'm here to warn you about... Wait a minute!"
Isabella mentally sighed when the paper protested when the boy crunched it, "I thought I wasn't supposed to tell people about the future? Why would Leer disobey our teacher like this? I should probably throw away this stupid paper- it's useless."
Isabella's interest perked up. This boy, judging my his words and actions was most likely a student. And so was the Leer person. Perhaps they were both friends...?
But Isabella had no time to waste- this boy could very well be a threat, and with the way he was muttering to himself about breaking rules, she found herself hesitant to trust him. After all, she was held against her will.
The boy sighed dramatically, but his voice was aimed at her, "Listen here Isabella- Wow does that sound weird, anyways- Just remember that this new neighborhood of yours, isn't as safe as you think. Someone- I'm not supposed to say who- is trying to hurt you and Eclipse... I think... But they do want to keep the two of you separated... Or is it the other textbook reference?"
And then she could feel the introduction of a head-ache. This child wasn't making much sense, and Isabella wished he could get himself together before he talk to her.
"People aren't black and white, okay?" his voice was getting distant now, "They're all weird types of grey. So don't judge so quickly."
What?
Isabella tried to turn her head, but the boy's voice only traveled further, "Oh no, I'm losing her. Well, just listen carefully, right? Isabella? Oh wait- I remember this chapter!"
Why was this boy so out of his mind?
"Um... you see..." his voice was growing fainter, "Someone is going to drug you, and umm, you're going to meet a bunch of new people, but everyone is going to think you're Stella's murderer. Wait, I wasn't supposed to say that Stella is Eclipse's mother. For Queen's sake, don't disappear! You still have to learn to Keep your Own! Why didn't I cram this?"
I feel fine. He should worry about himself more than me...
But Isabella could feel that stifling presence get lighter, until it was gone. She lay there, and the obvious presence of soft mattress was felt beneath her back. But Isabella wasn't nearly conscious enough to wake.
What was that all about?
