Sometimes, we think that we're here for a reason, and we are, it's just, my reason is to stay cooped up in my room on my laptop fangirling on tumblr over people like, Jennifer Lawrence, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, and Francisco Lachowski. It's not my fault I love them with every bit of my heart, I just made the mistake of joining tumblr, because once you join tumblr, you never go back. Never.
My dad, is obviously not very fond of my internet life. He always pops in my room saying it's a lovely day telling me that I should call April and go have a run, or see a movie. No. That's not how it works. I will stay in my room unless I have already made plans that are worth my time. If I don't have anything to do, I will watch Sherlock, America's next top model, Pretty Little Liars, The Big Bang Theory, or my favorite of all, Awkward. I would love to have an interesting life like the people in these series, but that's just not me.
It's 11.48 pm, and my dad pops in my room right after my prom.
'Hi darling!' He says cheerfully
'Hi dad?'
'Why are you stuck in here? It's all cold and boring, how about we go for a movie, or get some ice cream?' Does he not realize that I like being 'stuck' in here.
'Dad, I just got back from Junior Prom, I'm still in my prom dress, plus, it's almost midnight and you want to go out for some ice cream?'
'C'mon Sammi! It'll be fun, like father-daughter bonding time, plus, you don't even have to put on makeup since you already have it on.'
I glare at him but then reply with a stern 'Fine' and he jumps up and then sits back down on the bed.
'Well dad, you have to let me get changed out my dress, remember that. So, scoot.'
'Oh right!' He points his index finger at me and winks 'Smart.'
'Wait, where's Lauren?' I ask him.
'At a sleepover.' He says as he walks out the door.
I change out of my gown, and slip into some black jeans and a dark orange t-shirt that says 'Camp Half Blood' (because I've read ALL of the Percy Jackson books three times and The Heroes of Olympus series twice) and then into some simple black converse, and put on a mockingjay necklace (every girl needs an accessory?).
I hop down stairs and pat my dad on the head.
'Can I drive?' I ask pouting my bottom lip out and raising my hands together beneath my lips.
'Absoloutely not.'
'WHY? I just got my license and it would be PERFECT to drive now.'
'Sweetheart, I'm not letting you drive at night. When you're more used to driving, you can drive at night, but, there are more drunk drivers at night then during the day.'
'So, if I drive, I'll be more safe when we crash so I can hit that blowy-up thingy.'
'How did you even pass your test?' He asks me with an eyebrow raised and I hit his arm.
'Fine. You drive, but that just puts me in more danger because I won't be able to hit the blowy up thingy. Haven't you seen the blindside?'
'We really need to teach you the parts of the car' He says and I laugh. I'm not the best at engineering and car parts, that's why my family was so surprised when I came home with the results of my career test and it saying 'Vehicle Engineering'. Those tests are absolute crap.
My dad decides to take me to New Zealand Natural, my second favorite ice cream place after Cold Stone, where I get English Toffee in a cone.
My dad and I arrive home at 1.07 am and he looks like he could just pass out.
'Well that was fun, hunny. I'm pooped, so I'm off to bed, don't stay up too late.' He says as he kisses my head and walks back into his room.
I head up to my room where I change into my sheep pajama pants, and I sit on my bed on my laptop watching Silver Linings Playbook, once again, while surfing through tumblr. Before I know it, I've fallen asleep.
I wake up at 3.24am to a vibrating motion on my stomach. I have a call coming from Lauren.
'Hello?'
'Sis, you need to pick me up from Jessica's house!'
'What? Why?' I ask rubbing my eyes.
'These people are freaks! The only normal one is her older brother! She snores like a maniac and talks about murdering people in her sleep and I'm terrified. Please pick me up!'
'I'm not allowed to drive at night, Lau'
'Sam, please. Dad's not picking me up and he wouldn't let me go to sleepovers anymore. He thinks I'm too distance and I always waste the time on people I won't like!'
'Fine, I'm on my way. Just write a note and say there was a family emergency or something. Don't be rude.'
I rub my eyes and put on some converse. I don't care about what I'm wearing right now because I am just so freaking tired.
Lauren, my 15 year old sister can't drive yet. If you're wondering if we're alike, we're not. She's a social as Collie (which is a very social dog, if you didn't know). She has brown hair and all the good looks, while I'm the one stuck with a hooked nose, a crooked smile, and hair that's half curly, half straight. She has a perfect smile and voluminous, straight, chocolate brown hair. I can't say that she doesn't have a hooked nose, because everyone in our 'famalam' has a hooked nose.
I sneak down the stairs into the garage and grab the car keys on the hook, where my dad always leaves them. I then hop in the car and drive to Jessica's house.
If you think that this is a bad idea, I've met Jessica before and she is pretty damn weird. Plus, Lauren is my sister and what are sister's for? But, don't think that I don't feel guilty about this, because everytime I do something like this, I take the guilt train for days, thank GOD, I am an amazing actress.
I arrive at Jessica's to find Lauren waiting outside with her bag. She runs to the car and hops in the front seat next to me.
'What do you think you're doing? Get in the back seat.'
'What? Why?'
'Because it's dangerous Lau, and you could get hurt'
'And you won't?'
'I'd rather I get hurt, than if you did Lauren'
'Thanks sis. But, I'll be fine'
'Okay. I don't know how to feel about this but we don't tell dad. And put on your seatbelt.'
She nods and does as told.
I drive off and I stop at the red light. Behind me I can see through the side mirror, a car coming way to fast and not slowing down. I open the window and wave my hand and pushing it down in a vertical movement, but it doesn't stop.
The car bumps us onto the street, and then the next thing I notice is a car from our right honking and then crashing into us. Everything is now in slow motion. I can see Lauren's eyes closing and the car stopping and the people inside of it's eyes and mouth's widening. And then the car lands and I close my eyes.
