Waves crashed against the shore, a rhythm beating steadier than the man's heart. The beach was deserted, save for him and his truck, with not even a few birds to break the mesmerizing silence. He glanced down to the photo in his hand, the last that had been developed; the last that had been taken. Leaning his head against the back of the seat, he chased the few inklings of memory from those happier times.
Before they were gone.

Before he was alone, just as he is now, and just as he'll be from now on. He has to stay like that, because if he forgets, these fading photographs will be the only proof that the seven of them had existed; the only proof of the mark that they had made on the world. On him. At first, the memories stung, the wound too fresh to even think about disturbing. It was more of a dull ache now, bearable enough for a while. He didn't think that it'd ever fully go away, not ever.

(A/N) This work was stolen off of my AO3 a few months back. The user has since deleted, but basically they changed the names and that was it. I decided I'd post it here on my own, because if it's going to be on Wattpad, it's going to be mine.
