"You're already twenty four years old Jennifer, when are you getting married?"
"Dad, in this day and age marriage isn't that big of a deal. Trust me. None of my friends are married."
"I don't care about whether or not your friend A, B, C or D got married. Marriage is essentially. . . well. . . a cycle of life."
"Yeah, yeah dad. Find me a man and i'll consider it."
"Oh, am I glad you said that. I already found you one. He's rather handsome if I do say so myself. He's a year older than you, is a CEO of some business company and oh. . . you two went to the same high school. You'd make the perfect couple."
"Hang on a minute. . . what!!!?"
"You'll be meeting him tomorrow afternoon, so dress appropriately."

"Wait, lemme get this straight. You broke up?!"
Ivy, my best friend and I sat on a circular table in a cafe located near my very first candy store, which is also a twelve hour drive from the city I was living in with Jack.
Revealing to her what had happened with Jack might easily be the hardest thing I've ever had to do, since she's able to read my every expression, even before I speak. I guess that's what happens when you've known someone since childhood.
"He hasn't signed the papers yet. And I doubt he will. I don't want to remarry, so being separated but not technically divorced is fine with me."
"Yo, this makes no sense to me. What the hell? Why? I thought you were actually falling in love with him."
I wasn't falling in love with him. I am in love with him. But if I told her that, she won't get it. More questions would be asked, and i'm not sure I feel like answering them. I'm just not ready for that.
"For now, I think I just want to be alone."
"Yeah, I get that."
I didn't expect Ivy to understand. But we both knew that digging deeper into it, wouldn't change anything . It was simply a waste of time considering how, I didn't plan on seeing Jack ever again. Essentially, I didn't want him to intervene with my life anymore than he already has. I knew that for sure.
