Chapter 1 - Wild Horses

 Hannah’s POV.

I awoke early on Saturday morning to the sound of marimba; my iPhone’s alarm.

Normally I wouldn’t set my alarm on the weekend, or at all in the holidays, but this morning I had to get up early to get ready for horse riding with my best friends; Georgia, Rachael and Ella.

Yes, horse riding. Just so you know horses are highest on my list of interests, One Direction coming second and music in general being third. Ok, so yes, I do fangirl with my friends, a little bit, maybe a lot? But why not, they’re five hot guys - four British, one Irish – who are great singers.

I picked my tan jodhpurs and a pink polo shirt out of my closet and headed down the hallway to the bathroom.

Once I had had a shower, I had slipped my clothes on, pulled my long sandy brown hair back in a ponytail and ran downstairs.

Mum was up and having breakfast already, but Dad was obviously at work.

I made myself a piece of toast and poured a glass of juice, then joined Mum at the table.

“Good morning Han! You’re up early” she said enthusiastically, after she had swallowed her mouthful of cereal.

“Yeah, I’m going horse riding with the girls! I was wondering if you could drop me off at the stables after breakfast?” I replied, taking a sip of juice.

“Sure hon!” came her reply.

“Thanks!” I said gratefully.

We arrived at the stables twenty minutes later.

The girls were already there. Rachael was tacking up her gorgeous 16.2hh chestnut thoroughbred gelding; Charlie, with one white sock on his right hind leg, Georgia was grooming the silky coat of her 17hh chestnut overo blue eyed thoroughbred stallion; Phoenix, and Ella was feeding treats to her 16.2hh bay blanket appaloosa gelding; Apache, who has four white socks.  The girls had gotten my gorgeous boy tacked up and fed for me.

He is a 17hh bay Thoroughbred – Quarter Horse cross stallion, with a white face and a sock on his hind, left leg, named Comet.

Ella has always been a little afraid of horses, but Apache had a special place in her heart, she trusted no horse like she trusted him, although she had bonded with Charlie, Phoenix and Comet enough to be comfortable around them.

After Georgia had finished tacking up, we set out for the trails that went around the land that the stables owned.

It was a nice sunny day and there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky.

We trotted along the creek for a little and came to a small meadow, the one we always come to.

“I’ll beat you guys across the meadows!” Ella challenged.

“No chance!” I yelled as I urged Comet forward into a gallop.

A grin spread across my face and I felt like I was free, right then and there.

“I win!” I yelled, as Rachael followed me, Georgia and Ella fighting for the next place. In the end it was too close to tell. I’ve always noticed Phoenix and Apache are good mates, I thought.

We rode for an hour or two more and then headed back.

Once we got back, we started to untack the horses.

“So guys, I was wondering if you wanna come over tomorrow!?” I asked as I pulled off Comet’s saddle.

“Yes!” Georgia and Ella replied excitedly together.

“FOR SURE!” Rachael shouted.

We all burst out in laughter, except Rachael who stood proudly. Rachael was the joker in our group, I guess that’s why she relates so well with Louis out of the five boys of One Direction. I personally favour Zayn, and the girls said I would match him, as I was the quieter one. Georgia has a thing for Liam, which I would say was reasonable, considering she was the serious one out of us girls. Then there is Ella, who adores Niall and that possibly might be because she shares his love for food? Who knows though...

Once we had removed the tack and groomed the horses, we turned them out into the Meadow.

“Bye guys!” I farewelled, waving to the girls.

They all waved back and we headed towards our cars. Mum had arrived just as we were getting back, so we made reasonable time.
