"The x-axis must meet with the y-axis and form a ninety degree angle or else the trapiziod will not..."
I zoned out in the back corner of Mr. Lively's calculus class. It was first period and I was beyond tired. I got a somewhat reasonable amount of sleep last night but the amount of boredom this school had to offer was overwhelming. I lazily copied down the example Mr. Lively wrote on the board and stared at him. He was a middle aged man with large framed glasses and a beer gut that he attempted to hide into his navy dress pants. His name was about the worst coincidence I had heard since he was about the most uninteresting and lame person I had ever met in my life and his surname was Lively.
I was torn from my mental analysis of Mr. Lively when the classroom door opened. The person who walked in surprised me. He was rather tall, somewhere between 5"11 and 6-foot I'd say. He had slightly curly dirty blonde-brown hair that hung right in his hazel eyes. He was dressed in a flannel that was layered over a classic Strokes shirt and black skinny jeans and a pair of black boots. He walked in calmly and handed a pass to Mr. Lively who glanced down at the note then his attendence sheet. He cleared his voice before speaking.
"Class this is Ashton Irwin, he will be a part of our calculus class from now until June fifth." Mr. Lively announced before gathering a syllabus and a textbook off the back shelf and handing it to Ashton. "We are just taking some siple notes needed for the midterm that is in a few weeks, you are welcome to follow along." He said before walking back to the front of the classroom, leaving Ashton standing in the back.
"Where should I sit?" Ashton asked. He had a smooth voice but he had an accent that I was unable to figure out.
Mr. Lively scanned the back row of seats before replying, "You may have a seat next to Miss Madden." He said, motioning toward me. I now felt very uncomfortable, I was insanely shy and I did not handle new people very well. I sensed Ashton walking toward me and sliding into the seat directly next to me of all the eight empty seats in the back row. I loved sitting alone in the back row, I could use my phone and take quick naps and it would be ensured that no one would rat me out, but that freedom disappeared when Ashton sat down.
As Mr. Lively continued to ramble on I began to zone out once again. I was pulled from gazing at the dirtied tile floors when I felt someone tap my arm. I looked over at Ashton who was now facing me.
"Could I have a sheet of paper?" He asked. I nodded before I rummaged through my bag and pulled out a sheet of paper for him, handing it to him without a word. "Thanks." He said with a small smile.
"You're welcome." I said quietly. Ashton rearranged the papers on his desk and accidently knocked his schedule off of his desk, causing it to float to the groud beneath my feet. I bent down and picked it up quickly glancing at the schedule as I handed it to him.
"Thanks." He said with a chuckle before he focused on the lesson at hand. I nodded in reply still stuck on what his schedule said.
According to his schedule, we had four of out six classes together and the same lunch period. Apparently I'd be getting to know him pretty well this year.
Sorry if it may seem boring the first few chapters I'm just trying to get a base set up for the rest of the story :) and sorry if there are any spelling errors I'm too lazy to go back through haha xo
