Chapter Twenty-Nine

   "For the love of God...!"

   Kiyoteru was stuck in traffic, on his way to pick up Meiko from the hotel. He grabbed his phone and quickly called her.

   "Hey Meiko? Yeah, there's a lot of traffic... I think there was an accident in the road..." A groan left his lips when his sister started complaining.

   "What?! Kiyo, are you serious!"

   "Meiko, I can't control people! But Kaito is fine, I left Aki with him and the place is full of nurses... he'll be ok..." Kiyoteru said.

   The line of cars slowly started to move. It was only for a second, but Kiyoteru could've sworn he saw multiple police cars going by. He raised an eyebrow, feeling slight fear.

   "Geez, what happened...?"

   The voices still wouldn't stop. By now Kaito had completely given up on freeing himself. He laid limp and allowed his own voice to torture him. He could've sworn he saw Len's face covered in red-violet bruises, bleeding cuts, and tears that slipped from his pained eyes.

   "I'm a horrible person... Len how could you possibly love me... I treated you like you were nothing..."

   Tears still fell down his face, but he remained expressionless.

   "How could I tell you to kill yourself... I'm the one that deserves to die... I wish I could just die..."

   He shut his eyes and put his head back as the tears continued to fall. Then the voices suddenly stopped. And he heard a new voice.

   "God, Kaito really gets on my nerves..."

  "Len...?"

  Kaito opened his eyes to the darkness, that had strangely brightened a little.

   "I hate the fact he picks on me all the time...! There's so many people for him to go after...!"

  The darkness got brighter.

   "But... that must mean I'm special to him... even if he hurts me all the time... it kinda help to know it's only because I play an important role in his life..."

   The black darkness was slowly turning white. Kaito felt like a weight was pulled off his body and he found himself slowly sitting up.

   "And I know now he really does care about me... I know he really loves me... I know I bring light to Kaito's life, I love him more than anything else in this world...!"

  Kaito was on his feet now, the beautiful white light all around him. For a mere second he thought he saw Len's warm smile, and he couldn't help but smile too.

   "I love you too, Len-Kun..."

   The warmth rushed all through him like the feeling from hugging someone you really love more than life. More tears fell down Kaito's face, but this time they were happy tears.

   He opened his eyes and awoke to a hospital ceiling.

   Aki proved himself to be very fast for his size. Len ran behind the little dog, praying Gakupo wouldn't find him. Why was Aki even here in the first place? Did something happen involving Kaito? Or had the puppy just somehow wandered here...? When there was a gunshot, Len could hear screams ring around the halls; nurses were peeking out hospital rooms, a few doctors were pushing patients to safety, and infants could be heard crying in the nursery. Aki ran around a corner toward a quiet empty hallway, but as soon as Len turned he lost sight of the dog.

   "Aki! Where are you!"

   He looked around for a moment. He could see nobody else in the darkened halls.

   "Oh my god...oh my god..."

  Len was trying to think of what to do, then he heard a gun click...

   "Found you~"
