"No!" Kyan yells as Nikon pulls the sword out of Amma and she falls to the floor. He rushes to her side and scoops her into his arms. Nikon pulls his sword over his head to bring down on Kyan, but I snatch out my longest knife, throw the bag down, and tackle him with all the strength left.

He isn't knocked to the ground, just pushed off balance, but I take my opening. I swing my dagger at him, rapidly, not taking any breaks for him to switch to offense. I pull out another dagger and swing with one in each hand. He swings his sword at me, but I duck and roll away from him, slicing his ankle in the process. He grunts loudly and attempts to bring his sword down on me, but I roll away from it again. I try to get to my feet, but Nikon's foot comes down hard on my nose and I'm knocked down. Blood begins to trickle down my chin and my vision goes blurry. He pounces on top of me, pinning my arms down with his knees and snatching a dagger from my hand.

He holds it against my throat and looks to his partner, Marilee, from District Eight, who's running up to Kyan, who's still holding Amma as she holds her stomach in pain. Marilee grabs Kyan by the neck and slams him down. She takes a knife and drives it through his left arm, pinning him there. He screams so loudly that my stomach drops. Marilee walks to the bag I dropped and scoops it up. She walks over to Amma and picks her up to her knees, standing behind her and holding a sword to her throat. Nikon jerks me up to my knees and holds the knife to my throat, just as Marilee did to Amma. My throat rises at the thought of what they're doing.

They're making Kyan choose which one to save.

I jerk away from Nikon, but he snatches me back and runs his knife across my forearm. I scream as blood oozes down my wrist and pain runs through my whole body.

"Here's how things are going to work, Kyan. To give the capital alittle drama, we decided to let you save one of these girls, but once you choose one, the other's throat will be sliced." Nikon says. Kyan lays across from us, scrunched up in pain. He pulls the knife from his arms and screams again, throwing it aside. He looks at me with sorrow in his eyes and I nod slightly.

It's my time to go. He's picking Amma because the medicine in the bag can save her. Of course he will pick her. I've been preparing for this since we were the last three in the alliance.

"All you have to do to save them, is to tackle their holder. We won't fight back or try to kill you. We'll simply let them go. However, the other will be killed instantly." Marilee explains and a sob escapes my mouth.

Kyan slowly stands as tears slip from his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He says. He never says who he's talking to. He begins walking in Amma's direction. I feel Nikon's blade begin to press harder against my neck and blood slowly leaks from the scratch he's creating. I look at Amma with tears in my eyes. Her eyes are trying to stay open and she smiles alittle. But suddenly, Kyan stops when he's right in front of them. His hand reaches down and touches the side of Amma's face. He looks to me once more and Amma's smile fades.

What is he doing?

He suddenly dashes towards me and Nikon and I gasp as he tackles Nikon. I'm knocked down but turn towards Amma. She gasps as Marilee slashes her sword and Amma's body falls to the ground. A cannon fires shortly after.

"Wow," Nikon says as he stands from the ground, "I did not see that coming." He laughs and I stare at Amma's body, limp and bloody. Tears fall from my eyes from the pain and the shock.

"We'll meet again, Two." Marilee says, throws the bag in my direction, spits on me, and then the two of them take off in the direction of the volcano. Kyan slowly stands and walks over to me. He lifts me up with his hands supporting my arms and pulls me into him. I sob into his chest and he hugs me tightly. I calm down a few seconds later and pull away, looking up at him.
