"Casey hurry up! Or I'm leaving without you." Ben, my 17 year old brother yelled from downstairs.
"I'm almost done!" I yelled back, that was a lie, I was still in my bathrobe trying to figure out what to wear. I went through my entire wardrobe and nothing. Ben called again and that's when I found my red varsity jacket from Forever 21 which complimented my straight blonde hair and my bleach ripped light washed jeans stretched a little to show my small curves. I ran downstairs running my fingers through my long hair. I was lacing my gray vans when Ben walked over to me.
"We're going to be late thanks to you, you should be lucky I'm taking you the party." Ben said.
"And you're lucky I don't tell dad you are going to a party while he's on his business trip." I grinned and walked out the door.
We got in the car and drove to pick up mine and his two friends. After we picked Ben's friends we drove to Caleb's house. Caleb Brown has been my best friend since Kindergarten and we're 15 now so about ten years of friendship. Caleb is a total sweetheart, as sweet as taffy. He has beautiful brown eyes that you could just melt into. His hair color was a light brown and it was always adorably messy. Caleb's average when it comes to height, about 5' 11" a good four inches taller than me. I texted Caleb and in one minute he was in the car right beside me.
After his house we reached Mackenzie's, Mack Smith has been my best friend since the third grade. Mack has beautiful light brown skin, her mom was born in Africa and her dad was born in California. Mack is a hawk. She's always aware of her surroundings and you wouldn't want to get on her bad side. But she's a really loyal and great friend to have. Mack also has long, thick, dark brown super curly hair that was braided to the side and she's 5' 9". I'm super jealous of her because of her gorgeous hazel eyes that sparkle in the light. Mack slowly walked to the car because of her teal flowy dress and sparkly silver heels. Mack is a super girly girl; she loves fashion and anything that has to do with clothes. I've always been jealous of Mack, with her eye color, mine are just brown. In my opinion, brown eyes only look good on boys.
After ten minutes of driving we were in the middle of nowhere, there was nothing but the orange bright leaves of the windy fall night in Chicago.
"Where are we? Are we lost Ben? Way to go moron." I crossed my arms as Ben took a rough turn.
Ben's voice raised a little higher, "no we're almost there."
I looked around the area; there was nothing at least within the next five miles.
"Get out of the car and see if you can find anything." Ben demanded.
Caleb, Mack and I all got out of the car and before we even took our first step we felt hands on our backs and got shoved onto the ground hard. We were all laying there when we heard the loud car engine buzzing as it drove away from us. They were laughing at us, of course, their voices were echoing in my mind. How could I not of known that my idiotic brother wouldn't take me to a senior party. I smelled the fresh air but ending up coughing due to smoke. My brother, he was smoking again, he promised he wouldn't after our mom died three years ago. I was the last person to stand up and I still had the taste of the crispy dirty leaves in my mouth. I was mad, mad at my brother for leaving me and mad at myself for not knowing he would leave me. It's been the first time since my mom died that my dad has left us for more than a day, I should've known Ben wouldn't have been responsible.
I brushed myself off and made deep eye contact with Mack who was staring directly at me and her arms crossed and foot tapping.
"How did we not guess that Ben would ditch us in the middle of nowhere?" Mack broke the silence, "we should have known we wouldn't be able to go to a senior party.
"We should've." I said.
I didn't really care as much as not being able to go to the party than the safety of my brother, I worry about him, and he only used to smoke when he was stressed or upset.
"We should walk around until we find something." Caleb said with more of a question tone than a statement, he was really awkward person.
I checked my phone first to see if I could get any service, nope. "That's a good idea, considering there is no service in this stupid place."
We started walking and remained really close to each other, the place was so creepy. We were walking for what felt like forever, I didn't pay attention to the time, I was just humming a random toon in my head. Mack stopped Caleb and me and her eyes got huge.
"W-what is that?" She pointed to the ground.
"It's grass Sherlock." Caleb remarked, I laughed.
Mack eyed Caleb devilishly, "I'm talking about the black box."
We walked a little closer to the mysterious box and it was slightly glowing. I bent down; I was about a foot away from the strange thing.
"I dare you to touch it." Mack challenged me.
"No, you!" I shouted really loud.
She smirked, "same time?"
"Deal."
I stared at the thing; it smelled like wet paint and salt.
I set my hand in front of me, I stared at my hand and then at the box, hand, box, hand, box. The box stared at me; something about it gave me the creeps. "On three." Mack interrupted my thoughts. I nodded.
"One." I whispered.
"Two." She said taking a breath.
"Three." We yelled together.
