The Crescent Moon

Chapter 4

I paused and stared down at the table, I didn't know what I actually wanted to ask him... How to say it so that I wouldn't seem weird.

"What would you guys like today?" The waitress asked us while chewing gum loudly.

"Ill have mocha mint bobba tea" I tried smiling.

"One mint" she sighed and wrote it down "and for the gentleman?"

"Ill have the same"

"Alright" she chewed her gum and walked off.

"And you were saying?" V grabbed my hand from across the table, I sat there not saying anything... trying to think about what to say. "Forget it? Here" V opened his left hand to a small ring with a aquamarine gem in the middle "Its your birthday, I wouldn't forget" he laughed "if that's what you were worried about" V smiled at me.

"Sorry, I thought you forgot" a forced laugh came out, I tried to use the birthday thing as an excuse so I wouldnt have to say what I wanted to say. "Its beautiful" I stared at it.

"It is, it reminded me of you" he came over the table and tried to give me a kiss. The waitress coughed and placed the drinks on the table while V sat back down.

"This is a public store sir, please try to keep that to yourself" she walked off. We both laughed and drank our bobba drinks. After 3 hours of shopping, we finally went to the arcade.

"I heard it was going to be a full moon today" V threw a basketball into the hoop scoring a point "wanna go see it for your birthday? Ill buy a cake?" He kissed me on my forehead.

"How about" I grabbed his hand "we go on a picnic tomorrow morning and stay till night? Oh, and invite Rose and Zach?" I smiled.

"Or or or, we can spend some alone time without the mall"

"Okay fine, but I still want to see the full moon" I kissed him. Hours later V took me to the bridge they so called "love lock" bridge and locked a heart shaped lock onto the fence then we both threw the key into the deep water then walked home.

"Goodnight" V gave me a kiss in the forehead.

"Goodnight" I smiled.

"Vance?!" My father came outside to smoke a cigarette "come come" he waved his hand "have dinner with us" he wrapped his arm behind V's neck and dragged him inside.

"Its fine, really" V laughed. We all sat at the dinner table. "Oh, happy birthday Hope"

"We thought you would never say it" my parents started to giggle. "Here" my mother stood up and opened the frezzer pulling out an ice cream cake, then placed it on the table. My father lit the candles "17" she cried "growing so big already" everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' and I blew out the candles.

The small get together was fun, especially with V there to experience it with me. "I love you so much" I smiled then kissed him.

"I love you too" V kissed me back. We both had a last look at the full moon and planned out the day for tomorrows picnic. "Do you want me to text, or call you when I get home" V hugged me from behind.

"Call me, I like to hear your voice" we locked our hands together. "Get home safe!" I waved at him while he was walking home. After I couldn't see the site of V anymore I went inside and took my shower before bed, picked out a outfit for tomorrows picnic and things to bring along.

V called me to tell me he got home safe, and we ended up talking for another hour about the picnic and how much we loved each other. We were making jokes and laughing about old times with Rose and Zach.

Morning came and my heart was pounding, I woke up early in the morning to make some sandwiches and prepare some fruits.

I packed some pink lemonade with straws and some veggie pasta with some mozzarella and small cherry tomatoes along with garlic ranch dressing. I sent V a text, to bring fruit salad. After hours of preparation I finally got to get into my dress and head out with a picnic basket.

V and I decided to meet at the love lock bridge. 10 minutes later V finally arrived and we walked to a quite place where the lakes view was clear and there was small amount of trees.

"Say ahh" I laughed and gave him a strawberry.

"Ahh..." V blushed and stared at me. I blushed, then fed him the strawberry. "Oh, by the way..." V pulled a cake "h-happy birthday" he blushed even more, I smiled and gave him a big hug.

"Thank you"

"No problem" V gave me a sweet peck on the cheek and we continued on with the picnic.

"Excuse me" I stopped a woman on the side road. "Can you take a picture for us?"

"Lucky you, I'm a professional photographer. This time will be free" she gave us a sweet smile. V and I took a picture of us feeding blueberries to each other, and another on where the sunsets infront of us and V hugs me from behind. Before I knew it, V had put a necklace around me, a heart shape pendant with a picture of V and me on the inside.

"Another one" he smiled. I was so happy this day turned out to be the best day of my life.

"I didnt know if you wanted a picture of your smiles... But I took one and I thought it turned out wonderful" the photographer smiled and handed me my phone. "I have to finish my run, have a good night" she jogged off.

"These pictures... are wonderful!" I stared at my phone then at V. "I love you so much" I hugged him.

I opened my eyes and I can see the moon coming up, the same like last time... I felt weird and uncomfortable, but the sight was beautiful. I took out my phone and took a picture of the forming crescent moon (Click) I stared at the picture, but the moon was now full the picture I took of the forming moon was now full on picture and in real life. Everything went back to normal... what the fuck just happened?
