*inspired by a Cherokee(??) legend*

There was a time when the night never ended
And the stars never left
And the moon never faded

There was a time when it never got warmer
And the sun never rose
And the rose never blossomed

There was a time when most people weren't happy
With the thing
That they'd wanted
For so long

There was a time when the light never dwindled
And the sun never left
And blue skies never faded

There was a time when the heat shriveled flowers
And the water dried up
And twilight never came

There was a time when most people weren't happy
With the thing
That they'd wanted
For so long

There was a time when both moon and the sun rose
And not once ever tired
Of dancing for days

There was a time when the flowers were blooming
And the rivers were running
And the birds always sang

There was a time when all people were happy
With the thing
That they had
All along
