I love you (Destiel)

Chapter 2

Later that night when Dean and Cas were chatting with Sam and Jessica a knock came on the door. Dean started to get up to answer it but Castiel waved his hand a little and went to open it. He opened the door and said quietly "hello?" Gabriel grinned at his younger brother "hiya Cassie." He said happily going inside "wait Gabe, there's something you need to know.." Castiel started quietly to Gabriel to turned back towards him "what is it?" His brother asked him "uh, um.. Sam's visiting with his new girlfriend." Gabriel's face fell "oh.. Well, it's nice that they're visiting." He said trying to smile. Gabriel started to go into the room where Dean was telling a story about the time he brought Cas to one of his friends who is a beekeeper.

Cas and Gabriel sat down, Castiel next to Dean and Gabriel sat in an armchair across from Sam and Jessica. "Jess, this is Gabriel. He's cas's older brother." Sam said faking a smile at Gabriel who glared slightly at Jess but quickly smiled as look looked at him "nice to meet you." She said kindly to him. Gabriel just nodded in reply staring at the wall behind them. Dean ignored the tension between the two and stood up "dinner should be ready now." He said going into the kitchen and bringing the food back out on plates for everyone one.

After they all finished eating Castiel took Sam into the other room. "Sam, I uh. Feel like I should ask you this. I know you usually ask a person's father, but.." He turned to the ground a little "I was.. thinking of maybe.. asking Dean to marry me.." He said quietly, his face turning pink as he said it. Sam's face lit up as he processed what Castiel was saying "dude! That's awesome!" Sam said happily and excitedly. Cas smiled and relaxed a little. "So you wanted my blessing?" Sam asked Castiel who nodded a little in response "of course!" Sam said as he hugged Castiel.

"Thanks sam, but there is something else.." Castiel said "it's Gabriel, I'm worried about him. He, he hasn't been the same since you guys.. broke up." He said the mood changing. "W-what do you mean?" Sam asked choking up a little, feeling guilty. "He hardly makes jokes anymore and I can't remember the last time he pranked anyone.." Castiel said quietly. Sam's smile dropped from his face.

-flashback(sam's pov)-

-six years ago-

It was a crisp autumn afternoon, the leaves had almost all turned into splashes of red, yellow and orange. I was sitting in my old childhood treehouse watching all the colors. I heard someone start to climb up the ladder and peered out of the window and saw my boyfriend Gabriel. He grinned up at me, his smile, his perfect and amazing smile that always lit up when he saw me. I tried to return it but couldn't as I thought about what I was about to do. Gabe climbed up into the treehouse and sat down next to me against the wall. He laid his head against my arm. "Hey sammich." He said happily calling me one of the ridiculous nicknames he had for me. He noticed my frown "babe, what's wrong?" He asked worriedly. I just tried to shake my head. "I-I got accepted into stanford.." I said quietly "that's amazing babe!" Gabe said happily. "Gabe, I can't do this anymore. I told you I can't do long distance.. I have to end this.." I said. Gabriel processed what I said and didn't say anything for a couple of minutes. "Oh, ok. I-I understand.." he said, I could tell that he was holding back tears as he stood up to leave. My heart felt like it had broken into a million little pieces as he climbed down the ladder. I watched him go sadly and tried to blink back tears of my own.

-back to the present (third person pov)-

"Sam, you ok?" Cas asked him, worry laced his voice. Sam blinked slowly and shook his head slightly "yeah, I'm fine" he fibbed. "I'm going to go back in with dean and jess. If that was all you needed to talk to me about?" He inquired to Castiel. "Yeah.. that's it." Cas said to Sam. Sam went back in and sat by jess again, smiling as he put his arm around her. Castiel made his way slowly back to dean. Gabriel paused what he was saying when Sam and Castiel came back in "Gabe was just talking about his candy shop." Jess said smiling up at Sam, who nodded a little. Gabriel looked at sam and his eyes hardened a little, he looked down at his watch. "I should get going, bye deano, Cassie, Jessica, sam." He said standing up, his voice turning a little frosty as he looked at sam and jess. Jess smiled kindly "it was nice to meet you gabe." She said. "It's Gabriel." He corrected as he left. Sam sighed a little watching Gabriel go. Jess frowned a little "did I do something wrong?" She asked dean, sam and cas worriedly. "No, Gabriel is just like that now.." Castiel said sighing wistfully. Dean nodded in agreement and put his arm around Cas gently holding him. Jess looked at sam a little expectantly. Sam just shook his head a little "he's fine." Sam said. "We should probably be getting back to the hotel now" Sam said standing up. Jess stood up as well as did Castiel and dean. Dean hugged his younger brother happily and Cas smiled warmly at jess as he hugged her gently. After all of them had said their goodbyes sam and jess left. Cas leaned against dean "I love you dean." He said softly "I love you too cas." Dean answered holding cas close to him.
