‘shut up’ I mumbled as I placed my pillow over my head

the irritable sound went again

‘oh my goodness!’ I almost screamed into my pillow.

When I removed the pillow from my eyes I almost got blinded by the amount of sunlight peering through my windows, I groaned as I saw the time on my phone oh god its 8 a.m .

Now a normal person would be happy to be woken up by the lovely sound of birds chirping and get up in a good mood ready to take on the day! But not Riley Carter, oh god no, this is the exact opposite this actually gets me annoyed cause these damn birds won’t put a sock in it!

I mean can’t a girl get to sleep in till noon on a Sunday?

After a while of debating whether or not I should get up I eventually do because I can smell pancakes from downstairs and let’s be honest who can resist food? Definitely not me.

Throwing my blankets off of me I walked into my bathroom and looked into the mirror and scowled while seeing my appearance. My hair was tangled probably from tossing last night and there was a bit of dribble on the side of my mouth. Uck .

Opening the faucet, I rinsed my face with my face wash and brushed my teeth. I then stripped out of my clothing and went into the shower, turning the dial and began cleansing myself and washing my hair.

After a while of questioning my very existence on earth I decided to come out of the shower, wrapping a towel over my body and my hair I made my way over to my closet.

Hmm what should I wear?

Well I have nowhere to go so I pulled out a black pair of jeans and paired it with a white sweatshirt that says ‘normal people scare me’. Letting my hair down I brushed through the tangles and braided it to the side. Happy with my appearance I went downstairs to get breakfast.

‘morning mom’ I greeted my mom while sitting down at the table

'morning darling, the pancakes on the table are for you’ she said while taking some for herself and pouring some orange juice into two glasses and handing me one. ‘thanks’ I mumbled while pouring syrup all over my pancakes and eating them.

I moaned in appreciation at the pancakes that tastes like they were sent from heaven. ‘these taste sooooo good’ I said with a mouth full of pancakes. ‘stop talking with your mouth full’ she scolded me while taking a bite of hers

After eating in silence, not really an awkward silence just the one where you are both consumed in your thoughts, I got up and took our dishes and placed them in the dishwasher. ‘do you have any plans for today?’ she asked me while walking into the living room ‘I was thinking about asking Jess if she wanted to meet up for a bit’ I responded while leaning against the wall and watching her pick up her purse and shove her car keys into them.

‘ oh, well I have to get to work for a little now, a patient called so I have to get to the office’ she said while looking for her shoes ‘it’s by the door’ I said while looking at her.

My mom is a brunette, just like me; she is not very tall but about medium height and has the lightest shade of brown eyes I have ever seen and she’s very slim. My mom works as psychiatrist and is very invested in her job. I guess she just likes helping people with their metal……problems. Its only the two of us that lives in this house we moved here when I was 12 from Washington to California, I must say it was quite the move but we both needed to get out of that hell house it held too many locked up memories that almost made me go metal.
