Bella Volturi

A shield

Looking towards Felix and Demetri, I quickly positioned myself in the fighting stance. I had been practicing now for nearly three days and had nearly perfected the art.

Watching as Felix ran towards me I quickly dodged his attack, my hair whipping my face as I did so. Looking up, I smirked as Demetri tried attacking from the air. Jumping up, I kicked him hard in the face causing him to fly back into the ground, bricks smashing and flying at the impact.

Knowing that Felix was behind me, I quickly turned around and fended off his attack. Just as I was about to make the final move, I heard Aro calling my name. Sighing, I backed off and quickly ran to the Throne room.

Smiling lightly as I saw him, I looked curiously at the vampire by his side.

"Isabella, this is Eleazar."

Tilting my head in greeting, I smiled politely.

"It is an honor to meet you, Miss Volturi."

Smiling warmly, I met his eyes, "And you."

Watching as he moved forward, I became slightly cautious.

"Do not worry, Bella dear, he will not hurt you."

Calming slightly at the sound of Aro's voice, I barely even noticed Eleazar using his powers on me.

"My, my Aro. You've certainly found yourself a rare jewel."

"Why? What is it my dear friend."

"Bella is a shield."

Puzzled and curious, I looked at Aro quizzically, "A shield?"

"Well, Cara Mia. You know that Jane cannot use her powers on you and neither can I. This is because your brain is shielding us from penetrating it. It really is very rare. How powerful is she?"

"Very. Most shields that I've seen can only protect themselves for short spurts of time. But Bella does it constantly. I believe, that if she practices, she will be very powerful and will be able to protect the entire Coven ."

Eyes wide, I turned my gaze to Aro who was looking at me with an eager gaze, "How fascinating. Thank you Eleazar."

Motioning Jane to escort him out, he told everyone else to leave.

Meeting his eyes, I smiled shyly, "Are you pleased Master?"

"Oh yes, dearest. Very much so."

Smiling smugly, I watched him closely.

"We are so lucky that you found us Isabella..."

AN: Oh my goodness everyone! I am so sorry that it's taken me so long to update. My life has been mad this past year. I know that it's not really an excuse and that it's taken over a year to update and I'm really sorry but  I will endeavour to update more often! In the mean time, I will continue to type up my chapters and they'll hopefully become longer as I know that there is nothing worse than an author updating their book and the chapter is only a page or so long... kinda like mine... Anyway, I must get back to writing and studying. I shall write to you all again soon!
