Btw, this is military time. So it's 3:28 in the morning. Also it looks better if you have the white background for reading.

"Hey, Phil, can you do something for me?"

"Martyn?" He said with his young blue eyes barely open. His brother had just woken him up from his sleep.

"Could you... come with me really quickly?" Martyn paused a little, he wasn't sure how this would bode with the situation they were going to be stuck in.

He didn't know if the idea he had would work, but it was probably the best chance he had to keeping his little brother safe from them.

The 4 year old followed his older brother to his bedroom.

Phil had been there more times than he could count (he was already learning numbers at that age). He remembered Martyn, who was 10, wrestling him on the bed. And playing hide and seek in Martyn's closet, he'd always lose. Poor Phil never realized that the closet wasn't the best place to hide.

So when Martyn did lead him to that exact closet, he was just a bit surprised. But, he didn't make a fuss and did as he was told.

Martyn had Phil shuffle through all the clothing to the back of the closet, which was a surprise all in its own. Martyn had a habit of collecting all the clothes that were worn out or that he grew out of. It resembled a jungle in there.

Once they reached the back of the closet, Martyn told Phil to sit and be quiet.

"Why?" Young Phil asked, "hide and seek?"

Martyn thought for a moment. The idea wasn't too bad, he'd be lying, but it was better than the other option they had.

"Yes. We're playing hide and seek with mum and dad," Martyn smiled, "They're counting now, I have to find a place to hide. Alright?"

Phil nodded.

"Remember, be very quiet okay?" Martyn reminded his little brother. Phil smiled as he put his finger to his lips to signify that he understood.

Martyn turned around and made his way out of the closet and down stairs to the front door.

Where he knew they would be coming.

He waited for door to either have someone on the other side, knocking, or someone bust it down.

He preferred the former, but the ladder was just as possible.

About thirty seconds of standing in front of the door, his heart started thumping. Loudly and quickly.

He managed to stay calm. He knew what was to come, it wasn't going to catch him by surprise. Not again.

His parents came down to the living room and saw their 10 year old son just stare at the front door.

His father stood next to him and said, "so you hid him?"
