My name is Felix Mardane. I have been arrested for chaotic damage on three buildings and a monument. About seventy people watched me. The police caught me on spot and said they even had proof of me doing it. But I? I actually have no idea what exactly I have done. When I first close my eyes everything is normal. Then when I opened my eyes car alarms went off and people gasped around me. I notice a cop running at me whilst I watch a building fall to the ground. It literally pace planted. That was my last day in society. I bet about hundreds of people must know this by now. And I would not doubt it if everybody fears me.
Because today, I am free. Back into society where people judge me. Where people are afraid of me. And they will never stop being afraid of me, even if I convinced them I am not a harmful person. I have watched people go by me and just nod their head without knowing I was growing this power inside of me.
I do not think my power was a coincidence, though. The day my powers first caused all that chaos, was the day my parents told me to leave the house. They said I had broken stuff and had been lying to them while I in fact was always speaking the truth. I did not know what it was at that time. When it became too much and I was out of the house, that is the moment where it hit its breaking point. I took a walk through the streets to get my mind off. When I passed by a noisy fountain it all of the sudden broke out. It had broken the monument on the fountain. Around us two glass buildings broke and one concrete building which had killed a lot of people. Oh god, yes. The innocent boy of people who thought their son was innocent, killed people. It sounds nuts.
I walk my path through the park. It is amazing how something can just calm one person down. In my own thoughts I seat myself onto a bench next to a pond and look at the water.
Life sucks. I have been living in the streets for two days now. I couldn't care less about food and water. Once I will die out here anyways, if I have a filled belly or not. And who will miss me? My parents couldn't care for all I know. The police is looking for me and would be glad if their target would die from the ice cold when winter comes. Nobody else will really miss me. Maybe a couple but those people are way too far back into my head.
''Excuse me sir,'' a high pitched voice comes from my right and I only suppose that is for me since I am almost the only one at this side of the park. ''Could you move over a little?''
Still lost in my mind I just shove over so the girl can sit on the other side of the bench. I keep focusing on the water in the point which sometimes moves when a fish decides to show itself for a moment. All seems normal until the girl tries to speak to me.
''It is so nice and peaceful out here, isn't it?'' she softly speaks out. I twirl towards her on the bench and wonder if she is talking to me or that she talks to something in her head.
''Right?''
Nope. She is talking to me. Directly and clearly. I cough awkwardly. ''Yeah, sure, it is.''
''All the quietness makes me forget the stupid things we humans go through,'' she sighs then she turns to face me. ''Hey, you look, like, really familiar?''
I instantly turn my face back towards the pond. She knows I am the one causing the chaos. When she looks at me for one more second she knows exactly who I am and she will call the police again. I don't know if she knows how hard it is to keep myself in right now.
''Do I?'' I mumble.
''Yes,'' she laughs and turns me around by my shoulder. ''Holy shit. It really is you. After two years of theorizing where you were I have finally found you!''
My cheeks glow read and I feel like fainting. She does know who I am. I have to get out of this conversation and out of this park. But she talks on and I have no other choice.
''I think this is just a mistake.'' I point out trying to avoid any more talk but when I want to stand up she puts me back in my seat again and sighs.
''No it is not,'' she says almost too excited. ''You are the boy from that accident, right? The one with the...'' she shoves closer to me to whisper. ''...powers?''
She is a total stranger. What if I say too much? I don't even know if I can trust her. But it looks like she knows a lot. Too much in this case. Who is she? I am definitely scared of her and I want to get away from her as soon as possible.
''What will you do if I am?'' I return to her. ''Call the police?
She laughs almost too loudly as if it was the funniest joke she has ever heard. ''No, silly! That will only cause me to lose you.''
Now I raise my eyebrows out her. ''What?''
''Zero is out there. They are so inspired by your story but they could never trace you. You were missing for two years,'' the girl smiles. ''People are talking about superheroes or aliens that took control over you.''
''Well that just gets weirder every day, doesn't it?'' I sigh. The girl giggles but turns serious again.
''My name is Lydia Burns. I belong to Zero as well as some others out there. What you experienced was just the beginning, Felix.''
At the moment she says my name I get shaken to my core but when I turn back to face her again she is completely gone. I frown and wonder how that is possible.
Is she a witch? Maybe she is just like me.
