Midori stood in front of her full length mirror.
She wore a light, blue kimono blouse with no sleeves, black pants, and the standard shinobi sandals. She tied a light blue ribbon in her jet, black hair to top it off.
Something brushed against her leg and she caught sight of her cat, Jin, in the mirror.
She bent down and stroked his back, making it arch as he purred. "Good morning Jin," she greeted him. A knock sounded on her bedroom door and she stood up. "Come in."
Kushina popped her head in and smiled at the exuberant girl before her. "Good morning Midori," She greeted, stepping in. "Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes."
Midori beamed up at her godmother. "Okay, Auntie Kushina," she replied.
Kushina looked around the room and lightly laughed when she spotted the bag next to the door. "Are you excited for your first day at the Academy?"
"You bet!" Midori exclaimed, her eyes glowing with excitement. "I'm going to make so many friends!"
"That's great, but before that you need your breakfast. Can't think on an empty stomach, you know?"
As if on cue, Midori's stomach growled causing her to blush and Kushina laugh again, waving her over.
The girl happily ambled over to Kushina, giving her a hug before walking into the kitchen where her godfather sat, reading the newspaper.
He peeked around the newspaper, a blond bang hanging in his face as he grinned at her. "Hey there, Mido. Did you sleep well?" he asked as he searched her face for any sort of sign to indicate that she didn't get the proper rest she needed. Ever since the incident with her parents, she would have reoccurring nightmares of that day.
Midori nodded, but she wouldn't look into his eyes.
The man watched her for a moment as she ate her food in a quiet manner, deciding not to press the subject further.
Kushina sat at the kotatsu, a red bang falling in her face as she smiled at the girl before turning to speak with her husband. "Don't forget Kakashi will be joining us for dinner, Minato," she reminded him.
"That's right. Thank you, love," Minato thanked her. He folded the newspaper and placed it on the far end of the table away from his food, turning to look at Midori fully. His light blue eyes shined with happiness as he chatted with his two favorite girls. "Midori, you remember Kakashi right?" There was a slight nod from her and he continued, "As Kushina said, Kakashi will be joining us tonight. He has been under the weather lately. Would you like to help me cheer him up?"
