Sereana

I watched Xavier as he remained at the wheel. We were approaching shore. Although I saw superior to hunans, I was still anxious as to what I might find. I had never ever seen the  shore this close, for obvious reasons, I  always kept my distance.
I saw white ground, I assumed it was sand. There were long brown structures that had small green shapes that made up a large and beautiful creation. There were building, all made of the same brown material and I grew more nervous of surroundings as we docked.
I stood, waiting for Xavier to finishing tieing the  rope when a strange creature swam through the skies and landed on the rail next to me. Confused and startled I let out a small scream, back away from it. I eyed the creature, studying it's movements when I heard Xavier let out a small chuckle.
" It's a bird, it's not going to hurt you unless you hurt it first. " He laughed. " Damn, I thought sirens were supposed to be tough. "
I rolled my eyes and continued studying the creature. It's small beady eyes peered into mine, it brought a small smile to my face.
" He's kind of cute. " I muttered. I moved my finger closer to it, in an attempt to poke it, but it flew up and landed on my finger instead. I let out a quiet squeal of glee and turned to Xavier. " Look! I think I've already made a friend. " I gave me a skeptical eyebrow lift and laughed again. The creature flew off of my finger and back into the sky.
" What? " I asked him, folding my arms, clearly not amused by his chuckling.
" Nothing. " He laughed. " It's funny to me how new all of this is to you. Believe you're in for alot more. As long as your with me, birds are the least of your worries. " He said.
" Was that a threat? " I inquired, my temper growing short.
" No, it's more of the price you pay for sticking with me. "
" Like you gave me a choice. " I argued.
" Well, looks like you'll just have to deal with it then. " He teased.
I groaned both internally and externally. I uncrossed my arms as I noticed his hand was extended towards mine. I took hesitantly and he helped me out of the boat. He looked down at my bare feet and sighed.
" You're going to need clothes, and shoes. " He said.
" Why, what's wrong with them? As far as I can tell I look better than anyone here. " I protested.
" For starters your feet will get cut and bruised if you do alot of walking without shoes, second you're barely clothed, lastly what clothing you do have is made of expensive materials. Materials someone would kill you for in order to steal them. " He let out an exhale as he finished.
" Well, humans have poor taste I suppose. Fine, but do we even have money for that? " I asked.
" Plenty, but selling that outfit would help tremendously. " He smirked. Stupid pirate, always wanting as much money as possible.
" Come on, there's a tailor shop nearby. " He grabbed my hand, walking through the warn sand onto the wooden stairs and stone roads.
              " Tailor? " I muttered in confusion.
As we progressed through the town the amount of people increased, as well as the amount of stares. It seemed as if everyone was looking at us, we're they planning something? I tugged on Xavier's coat with my free hand, gaining his attention.
" What? " He asked concerned. He could probably see the confusion and anxiety on my face.
" They're staring at us. " It might seemed childish of me to be afraid, I was a siren afterall. But, there were far more humans that could team up against us. Would they kill me if they knew who I was? Would they believe me?
" No, they're staring at you. " He stated, making me grow more anxious. I I squeezed his hand harder as I got closer to him, almost standing against his chest.
" Why? " I whispered nervously. I stared up at him, pleading to find an answer.
" You don't exactly blend in, also sirens are notorious for being extremely beautiful so that might have a teensy bit to do with it. " He answered, wrapping one of his arms around me, his hand placed on my back. I nodded, signaling that I was okay.
He gently urged me to walk forwards next to him. I felt stupid and defeated being babies like this. I need to be fearless but at the same time, I'm far away from home and surrounded by unfamiliar creatures and substances.
We eventually reached the building he was talking about. I could still feel eyes gazing in us. We walked inside of the building and the man greeted Xavier with a smile.
" Xavier, been a while! I knew you'd come back with imense pirate riches to help me make my living. " The man laughed. " A good man you are, care to take a look at my newest wares? "
" Well Marcus, I actually need apparel for a friend of mine. Marcus this is Sereana. " Xavier motioned his hands towards me and I awkwardly smiled at the starstruck man. He was small in height, slightly shorter than me. He was plums in shape and wore a small rounded hat atop his head.
Marcus immedeatly rushed around the counter and grabbed my shoulders, shaking me in joy.
" She's perfect! Beautiful! I've been waiting so long for this day, come my child, come! " He dragged my to another area of the store while I looked back at Xavier who smile and waved.
After a torturous amount of time of trying on different clothing and outfits that he had prepared. I finally decided on a simple dress. It was an olive green, the sleeves were below my shoulders and made a straight line from shoulder to shoulder. There was a tough and deal brown material  under my breasts and down to my waist. The rest of the green dress flowed down, a little way above my knee. My long brown hair stretched down to my waist. I looked in the mirror at myself one more time.
I walked out of the small room and out to the main part of the store. When I exited, Marcus covered his mouth dramatically in joy. Xavier wasn't paying attention at first, but when he heard Marcus' suffocated squeals he looked up at me. He smiled  softly and genuinely as he looked my up and down. Marcus placed a pair of   long brown shoes on the table. I put them on, with Xavier's help, and stood up. They reached the middle of the lower part of my leg. Xavier then kneeled down and placed a small blade in the shoe at the side.
" In case you need it, and believe me, you might. " He whispered in my ear and then turned to marcus. " So how much do I owe you? "
" For providing such a beautiful woman with clothing far less beautiful then her own? Not a thing Xavier. "  Marcus replied.
         " Marucs- "
" No, I insist. In fact, let me buy that exquisite dress from you, if that's  alright with you darling. " Marcus blushed at me.
I nodded my head and looked at Xavier as he handed over my previous clothing. Marcus was right, this dress was much less glamorous.
