Better and Happier

It's been a month since I transfered to this school, but nothing changed, I still have no one to talk with, just like my usual life.

I guess I'm gonna spend another boring year in this school.

I wonder who will be friends with me, I guess no one, I couldn't seem to find their interests, I can't seem to build interest in others, maybe it's because I spent my life alone, I grew up without communicating to anyone.

I thought maybe I can be friends with an another loner like me.

I always ride a train everyday, to go to school and inside the train, I always play a guitar hero-like game in my phone, I would always wear my headphones and play that game, it's my only hobby and I never get tired of it.

I also notice that a girl is always sitting next beside me everyday, everyday, beside me, she's always watching me play the game in my phone, we are always on the same seat but what do I care?

Yeah, she always do that, so what?

That's what I always say to myself.

She's also wearing the same uniform everyday, my school's student uniform for girls so she must be a student from my school.

And also every time we arrive at the train station, we walk together to school without talking because she's not my friend and she will never be.

I'm bad at communicating because I never communicated.

I later learned that, that girl is popular in our school, completely opposite of me.She's has lots of friends, and everyone likes to talk to her.

But she doesn't like talking to boys.She doesn't have any guy friends only girls.

With my loneliness and her popularity, it's completely impossible to be friends with her.

I don't even mind knowing her name.

I'm really jealous of her, because she is enjoying her high school life unlike me, a friend would be enough for me to enjoy it.

One day...

Lunch Break...

I always eat my lunch alone at the rooftop while wearing a headphones and listening to music.

I stopped the music for a while, I heard footsteps coming behind the door, I saw the popular girl with her lunch, she's now on the rooftop as me.

She approached me and sat in front of me.

She talked to me like she's my friend.

"Hello."

"...?Uh?Hello?"

"My name is Tsubaki Yui, pleased to me you."

"Oh, my name is Hinata Yuzuru..."

"Were you always like this?Are you happy of your life consisted of these things?"

"Well, I'm used to it."

"No, you shouldn't be, start cheering up a bit."

"How am I supposed to do that?I don't know how."

"Talk to me, let me help you make your high school life a happier one".

"I'm bad at making friends you know."

"You'll never know when you never try".

"I tried already."

"Try harder."

"Why are you doing this?I thought you never talked to boys.

"Because I know what I'm doing right now is right, this is also a thanks to you for saving me last week, if you weren't there, I would be either dead or dying".

Oh yeah, last week, I saw her, she was about to be hit by a big truck so I pushed her with me.I was injured, the edge of the truck hit my foot, there was an open wound, the skin came off.

It's the first time it happened.

"Oh, that day."

"Were you injured?"

"Huh, uh, no.I was fine."

I lied.

"That's good then.Let's eat!"

She said those with a smile on her face.

While we were eating, we talked.

I have never felt this way before, this is the high school life that I've been dreaming of, to have a friend, to have someone to talk with.This is probably the best day of my life, maybe more best days will cone after this one.

Lunch break is over...

"See?You're not really bad at communicating, I had fun talking to you."

"You think so?".

"Sure, I think it's time for you to try making friends with those skills."

"Okay, I'll try.

"Let's go."

"Huh?"

"Come on!Don't wanna be late!"

She quickly grabbed my hand and we both walked out of the rooftop and went to our classes.

Class is dismissed, I managed to talk to somebody, and they talked to me a lot!I can't believe it!I'm very happy.

I saw Yui at the entrance gate of the school.

"So...?What happened?"

"I did it!I can't believe I did it!"

"It's not really hard, you know."

"Tomorrow will be another great day!Woo!"

"Oh, I know, why don't we eat at McDonalds?"

"Huh?I have never experienced that".

"You will right now, if your free."

"Sure!"

We ate at McDonalds,of course, we talked and stuff, I had lots of fun, this is the first time I felt such joy and happiness.

After eating at McDonalds, we both went home together.

We rode a train on the way home but this time, it's different from usual, I let her play the game in my phone and she also wore the headphones.

We were laughing at the train, I bet other people were annoyed.

We arrived at the train station, and we both learned that our houses were not far from each other.

She asked me to give her my number so she can call me.So I did give her my number.Why not?

1 week later...

I had lots of friends, and I had lots of fun.

A lot of things has changed since I met her, she changed my life.

I'm hoping that this kind of life will last forever.

But I learned, something better will happen other than being best friends.
