ALYSSA RAN FAST IN THE darkness of the night, narrowly avoiding obstacles like roots and stones. Her heart raced as she moved like a blur. Exhaustion started to creep into her legs, threatening to give up but she didn't stop. She remembered something was following her and she will not stop running until she was safe.
Dried leaves and small twigs broke under each step, making noises as she sped by. The moon was illuminating the ground enough to guide her through the thick canopy of the forest so she would not trip all of a sudden. The wind whipped past her, letting her dark blue hair fly with the wind.
The forest was silent, as if noticing the dangers it was in. There were no night time sounds except for the sound Alyssa's footsteps and panting in the forest. Low growls echoed throughout the dark. Alyssa spared a glance towards her back and saw bushes moving like something was in them. Of course, there was something in there.
Adrenaline was pumped through out Alyssa's body, giving her renewed strength to out run whatever there is out there. She didn't feel the exhaustion at all. She ran with all she can, trying to lose the nearing growls of the creatures hot on her tails.
Alyssa stopped running when the forest floor suddenly became a steep cliff. She skidded to a stop, trying to stop her momentum to keep her from falling towards the cliff. The moon shined brightly over the edge, not hindered by the thick leaves of the trees. She turned towards the growls, preparing from what's to come.
A pack of disfigured wolves stepped out of the tree line, growling as they approached Alyssa slowly. Their faces were burnt, legs were bent to an angle and their eyes glowed a deep shade of red. Saliva dripped from their mouths as they slowly crawled over to Alyssa. Alyssa scotted back to the end of the cliff until the edge. She glanced downwards the cascading cliff to check if it was possible to survive a fall of a thousand meter drop. Nope. There was no water to even lessen the impact.
Dark, thin and crooked trees spread throughout the landscape. Massive clouds hovered the horizon, lighting flashing as acid rain fell down. Blood and blight covered the ground chilling her to the bones. The trees oozed of black magic, rendering it a danger to light casters.
She remembered all of a sudden her location as of now. Alyssa was in the Dark Mystic Mountains, where you can't use your magic because of the pure dark magic that concentrated in the peaks. She can't use her control over the wind in this area so she can't escape. The only way was to battle the wolves.
She was running out of options. She can't use her magic to kill the wolves, she can't even access her own magic. She tried transforming her rings to her trusty daggers, and fortunately it worked. Alyssa was nervous, she can take down the pack easily if she had powers, but now they were temporarily gone. She had to give it a shot.
One of the wolves pounced.
Alyssa ducked under the wolf, slashing upwards and struck the chest cavity. The wolf stopped dead in it's tracks and died. She rolled just in time to avoid being bitten in the head by another. The daggers shined under the bright moonlight as it momentarily blinded another wolf.
Alyssa was a blur, a whirlwind of blades making her daggers work fluidly. She slashed a wolf under it's belly while stabbing another in the head. The attacks carried on relentlessly, never wavering. Wolves come pouring in on Alyssa, but she was surviving the onslaughts. But barely.
She was starting to get exhausted, sometimes getting an injury when the wolves got past her guard. As the pack of wolves start to decrese, she threw one of her shining daggers, impaling a wolf in the head.
Alyssa dodged another wolf and slashed at another. She spun around and impaled her last dagger into head of the last wolf, instantly killing it. She panted, the fight taking a toll on her energy.
